vizzy900 : Mortal Kombat. Maybe because Christopher Lambert was so great playing Rayden in that movie. To me, he almost saved that movie from being too much like Street Fighter II: The Movie. Not that the other actors didn't do well in Mortal Kombat, it's just that Christopher Lambert was just so much better.

vizzy900 :   I really liked Final Fantasy Advent Children.  I have always loved the video game series, and I thought they did a really good job with the movie.  It looked almost real.  I wish someone would make an actual good Dragon Ball movie, because Evolution sucked really bad.  I am a huge fan of Dragon Ball Z but they slaughtered that movie so bad.

LordGaldan : I did enjoy the movie... for the theme song. Probably one of the most popular techno (or whatever the style) track ever composed in the 1990s.

lordbelial669 : Thanks for pointing that one up. Otherwise I don't think I would have been able to name a single adaptation I liked. Mario was absolutely awful, The Spirit Within was all about the CGI rather than the story...

Well, my favorite movies that's plainly based on games would have to be pixels though its based on pretty much all retro games, not just one. It's funny and there's a ton of action. I also love the need for speed movie for the story and drama.

I enjoyed the Resident Evil movies a lot.  Milla Jovovich's martial arts is stunning.  When they brought in Jill Valentine and in her opening scene where she shot the convicts handcuffs to free him, it blew my mind.  I felt they played the characters off like their skills were like those of a pro gamer in a game.

I thought the Silent Hill movies were done well.
They weren't exactly canon (which I think was one of the biggest complaints), but it was done well and gave a fairly accurate representation of the story.

Vanelan : From what I have been hearing, the ones that are canon are the ones that have the worst reviews because people are always going on about how something was left out or added, or how something was changed. However of something isn't canon, then it wont officially be part of the game universe but open to less criticism because the only thing people can complain about is that it probably wouldn't have happened in the games, they can't complain that it didn't follow the story or something was added or taken out if it was never meant to follow it.

zanderlex : There is no satisfying some people I guess.
I liked that they used the elements of the Silent Hill games and they captured the environment.
I dunno what else the critics that review them negatively could want.

I bet they are the same people that say the greatest Silent Hill is 2 and complain the other games aren't Silent Hill 2.

janus :   I totally forgot about Final Fantasy: Spirits Within....what a horrible movie.  It was all about how awesome and real looking their hair was, and that's about all it had going for it

I would have to say the first Hitman movie with Timothy Olyphant. I love him as an actor and I feel he nailed that role quite well. I was extremely skeptical about the movie until I saw it. I wasn't sure how well the story would be written, but it was a pleasant surprise. And the chick who co-starred in the movie was sexy as heck lol.

vizzy900 : My favorite movie based on a video game is Resident Evil. There isn't a zombie movie or video game that comes close to how awesome Resident Evil is. There are so many extensive and complex things that occur in both the movies and the games.

Oh, man, the first Resident Evil movie was pretty great, over time, the sequels started to get... Worse. I did enjoy most of them until the last one that came out. Retribution, I think. It actually had a really cool story,
Spoiler:
but they started to throw in way too much fan service, having tons of characters from the game... And ruining them. The ONLY thing they got about Leon right, was his hair, and that's it.

I did love both the Final Fantasy movies, but, my favorite movie based on a video game... Don't laugh, was the Doom movie. Dwayne Johnson and Karl Urban were fantastic in that movie, and it had some really cool stuff going on. My friends say it's a bad movie, but they still like it, but I disagree, I thought it was a fantastic movie. Love it. Kind of want to watch it again now. XD

Mine would have to be Ratchet and Clank! I still remember watching this like a month ago or so. It was truly amazing to see my favourite game come to life more as a movie. What was even better was that I knew all of the original voice actors! So I really had a swell time watching the movie, and when it comes out. I'll either download it to my laptop. Its most likely that will happen anyway. XD

I don't watch a lot of game movies but I saw a resident evil movie once and it was pretty alright. Though I'm still hyped for the (technical) Kingdom Hearts Unchained X movie that'll be on 2.8 final chapter prologue. That, and the Sly Cooper movie.

I loved Warcraft recently and id have to say that it's my favorite video game based movie of all time now, far better than Pixels. I went into the movie literally knowing nothing about the Warcraft universe, but the movie was just fantastic. All the effects, scenery, and costumes all looked remarkable, and the soundtrack was amazing as well, which happened to be by the guy who did the Game of Thrones music so you know it's going to be good. I knew nothing about the universe going in and I still pretty much knew nothing when I left but it was such a good movie overall.

janus :   Whoever made The Spirit Within, should have been sued for putting Final Fantasy into the title.  I don't think there was anything even remotely comparable between the games and the movie, and the Mario movie....why even bother?

I haven't seen any movies based on one specific video game, but I have seen movies based on multiple video games. It used to be Wreck-it-Ralph, but after seeing Pixels, Pixels is my favorite. The concept in the movie of video game characters taking over the world was a cool concept in my opinion (only for a movie, not real life!).

I appreciated most of the humor in it and even though the movie was pretty predictable, I wasn't expecting part of the ending. The ending was one of my favorite parts of the movie. But my favorite part was the part with Pac-Man of course XD
