This is a lawsuit for the ages. Byron Allen, comedian and TV producer is suing the FCC for Racial Discrimination. People sue other people and companies all the time, so what makes this so special? This is one of the largest, if not the largest single lawsuit in history, $10 Billion. This isn't actually the first time he's made such insane lawsuits, last year he went after places such as Comcast and Time Warner for $20 Billion.

I think it's outrageous, he's doing it for the right things, but the amount he's suing for is just dumb I think. What do you think?

The very idea of this lawsuit is wrong on so many levels.

First and foremost, it seems to start with the premise that because Blacks don't own as many channels or media there must be discrimination. Using that logic, many sports are racists (many running distances, basketball, baseball) since there aren't many (or at least, lower than their share of the population) Whites.

And second, this looks like another SJW who just wants attention for himself. Is there still racism today? Of course there is; a-holes don't die easily. However, can we please have a civilized dialogue and look into why there are so little black ownership in the media rather than playing the stupid racism card?

I first read this as "Barry Allen Lawsuit".  I guess even The Flash gets involved in a lawsuit every once in a while...

supernerd117 : Everybody can get involved in a lawsuit, someone just needs to do anything stupid, even if only one person in the world thinks its stupid, and they press charges.

Indeed. As a Chinese (Roman?) philosopher once said: the more laws there are, the more criminals it creates. While the intentions of the Civil Rights Acts (what this lawsuit seems to be based upon) were noble, they created much more trouble than they solved.

janus : I agree with a lot of your views specially when it pertains to the government and laws themselves. And yes I think laws just make more criminals which draws in more money - in FL a DUI case can be at least to $3,000 here's the thing you don't have to blow the alcohol limit or above it; if the cop feels as such he can charge you with a DUI you can fight it but more than likely end up on a plea of wet reckless where you end up paying $3,000+ but don't get DUI on your record, take alcohol abuse classes of $300+, pay court fines, administrative fees etc. It's all money at the end of the day rather than actual justice.

Going to your topic Zanderlex; I like that people take a stand for what they believe. But, honestly what are the chances of getting that settlement money? That's an outrageous amount of money and from what it seems, he wants his name said more than actually winning these lawsuits. When it comes to discrimination, almost any race can make such claims but, I think most cases are not intentional discrimination for instance some shows don't get that much rating not because of their color but, their material. Example Wayan's Brothers- just because they are black does not mean that they would go make a lawsuit so they can go back to having their show which would actually be unfair to everyone else who must keep their ratings up. I think there's discrimination and maybe always would be but most cases of "discrimination" I've seeing lately are more fights for distinction than equality.

jlove92: Thank you for the support .

However I disagree with your "people standing up" statement. Racism and discrimination are
only a problem when they come from government. Otherwise, no one is entitled to someone else's products. Would be force a Black baker to cater to a KKK wedding? Unless one can find me an actual article of law barring Blacks from owning media, then there is no case here.
