If you are a bug gamer, the. Amazon Prime is the way to go. Starting now, all nee physical games that are sold and shipped by Amazon get a 20% discount. But remember, we're talking about NEW games! Most big new games are around $60 when they come out and don't go on sale for a while usually, but this changes everything. If you are a member, which is $100 a year, you can get any new game, whether it's pre ordered or within 2 weeks of its release for less than $50! Not to mention free one day shipping.

Buying 10 games in a year with this will right away wipe the cost of the subscription and it even works on bigger games, like limited edition versions.

I would definitely do this if I bought a lot of games because this really is a great way to get cheap games, especially because these are brand new games we're talking about, right when they cone out

If I were a gamer I would definitely go for it. I mean, I would basically have Amazon Prime for free AND still profit from it! Hopefully, bad losers will not complain too hard (RE: Uber)

It sounds like they may be trying to compete with Best Buy.  Best Buy has a program for $30 that gives 20% off all new games, no matter how recently they came out.  I don't know whether this applies to preorders.  Amazon's new program just gives another reason to be a Prime member.  There are quite a lot of incentives at this point.  Amazon Prime Video, Prime shipping, Prime music, the Kindle rental program (I forget what it's called), and more.  I guess whether or not it's worth it for a person may depend on how they use it.

supernerd117 : Just buying Prime alone for the games if you buy more than 10 a year will make the price worth it, but beyond that, theres so much more. Theres the stuff you mentioned and then you have things like free one day shipping which is normally really expensive and you get normal discounts on a bunch of things.

Honestly, if you look at Amazons prices for games, they are generally less expensive than if you bought them new and/or used. I often times save a few bucks buying games on Amazon even without prime. Now with this discount that you mentioned, it's even more of an incentive to extend my prime trial.

Jordanv78 : Well, this is for pre orders and games within two weeks of releasing. Most of the amazon sales for new games don't happen until just past that. If I had prime, I'd right away pre order uncharted 4, that's $48 and free shipping. The only drawback is it can't be for download games.

I'd also get the new final fantasy game for like $32.

I understand the difference, I'm just saying that if you add games to your wish list, you will notice that they go down in price over time. Even games that were just released pretty recently. For example, someone could buy Fallout 4 on Amazon for PS4 BRAND NEW for 52.75 Or Black ops 3 for 39.99$

Jordanv78 : Well yeah, but that's just the regular price drops, not something that's specifically related to Amazon. Gamestop is also listening new Black Ops 3 for PS4 for $39.99. Even the Fallout 4 game on Amazon, that's not actually sold by Amazon, that's sold on Amazon in someone's shop. When that happens, it's possible that this guy bought the game on sale somewhere or got it for free, like how I got Fallout 4 for free with the bundle and then goes on to sell it for cheap and still makes a profit.

That copy of the game wouldn't actually be elgible for the discount because only games that are sold directly by Amazon count, so you would actually have to search for the right copy.

zanderlex : I didn't realize about the COD game, but what I'm saying is that I've purchased MANY games off of amazon, and usually their games are cheaper than other outlets like Best Buy and Gamestop. Like 90% of the time, that's the case.

I also understand that there are many sellers on amazon that amazon represents, but the price drop for Fallout 4 for example is prime eligible, and available right away, which is all the average buyer is looking for.

Jordanv78 : Yes, the game is Prime Eligible, but it wouldn't be eligible for the 20% discount, even if it was still within 2 weeks.

This is actually a nice deal... if you buy games at full price.

I personally do not, I buy maybe 2 or 3 games at full price all year, last year, it was just MLB 15 the Show, Tales of Zestiria, and Assassins Creed Syndicate I did this for.

I buy most of my games several months later at cheap prices (look at AC Unity, I got it for like 15 bucks, new), or used (Madden NFL 15, 5 bucks).

I can't say this will get me to use Prime, but it's offering more than before, and that's what they need to do. As it is, their service is a rip off.

That is awesome. Thanks a lot for the information. Do you know how long this will last? Now I feel motivated to buying newer games for Xbox One because $60 a piece is quite a bit. I'm glad they did that; about time they gave Prime members something more to be excited about- nice push!
