So I have come to realize I don't do much making any pokemon threads. So I am going to have to try and do that more often so its fair. So what did you like from the old school pokemon series that. Today's series doesn't have? I am not going to lie and be blunt I don't like today's series because how I think things have gone wrong differently. And I am sure most of you can see that. I went to youtube to see this video about why pokemon hasn't stopped. They don't want it to stop or for ash to grow up why? Because it was meant to be for children so reason why he doesn't really age. The producers I feel are coming up with ideas with doesn't help the show. I mean heck if they continued in from what they did from the old series I would still watch it. The old series had fun and lovable songs as you know, team rocket were likable even if they were bad they were still funny and had a charm in a way to grab the audiences attention, which hey don't do now.But they didn't what's missing there? The love and care. Things seemed not cared in the new one. I could go on with this forever. But I would like to see your views based on this. Feel free to agree or disagree and say of your own reason why today's series is good as you feel. '-'

The current song is one of my favorites actually and I really like the current series but I just haven't been able to see it. I don't like the series that are in between. I likes the first couple series up until the end of hoenn or just before and then once Diamond and pearl came out I stopped watching it and then when XY came out i got back into it and started loving it again.

I miss the old Pokemon show.  It had plenty of punny humor and even broke the fourth wall a good number of times.  The main "bad guys" were easily lovable, and contributed a lot to the humor.  While the animation and fights have improved imo, there just feels like there's something missing that should be there.  I don't feel it's bad, but it's not what it used to be.

Also, I hope Brock is brought back.  He's possibly my favorite character from any show ever.

zanderlex : I see to be honest diamond and pearl wasn't all that. There are some seasons that will get you to watch them. Then there are some you won't like which is completely understandable.

supernerd117 : I liked your reply for a reason. It has a sense of what I was looking for which I agree 100% with super. I miss all of that I really do.  

Somethings have to change but I didn't want it to change the way it is now, some people would like it while some others wouldn't. '-'

My biggest problem with the Pokemon show still existing is that it was never expected to even get a second season in Johto, and it's pretty clear by the whole progression of the first season. The biggest problem is that this becomes a case of Ash having memory issues and consistently forgetting how to even be a Pokemon trainer (because, otherwise, there would really not be much to the show to begin with), almost as frequently as Samus loses her abilities in Metroid (culminating in the amazing way she loses her abilities in Metroid Prime... ._.).

At the same time, it's a good way for the series to stay fresh for each passing generation of kids who play the game.

Honestly, my biggest qualm with it is that it's always Ash. He doesn't have a really notable quirk or personality to him that should keep him as a mainstay as he is. He's not irreplaceable to me.

All the generations have something special about them that makes them unique from one another. Sadly, I've met some people, most on Youtube, who are nostalgia blinded and only enjoy Gen 1 because they played it as a kid. My favorite generation is Gen 4, but the first game I ever played was Pokemon Gold. Now that the Pokemon series has switched to 3D models instead of sprites, I feel that this series is going in the right direction. It always has been. I am really annoyed about how they didn't include the Battle Frontier in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. That was their chance to put it in, and they blew it. Wonderful. That's probably the most annoying thing to me in the series. I adored the Battle Frontier, and I was looking forward to seeing it in 3D. But no. They tease us instead. =-=

LunarDarkness2 : I also agree with that too. I will never forget the day when I watched battle frontier on tv the clash of the clash match with ash and may. Man that episode was a blow away. XD

Eniitan : The biggest thing with Ash is how shallow of a character he really is, even if you look at him in the first season. He doesn't really have a defining trait that makes him any different from some generic hot-headed pre-teen looking to prove himself without the knowledge to do so.

SWTerra : Well that's your opinion and I have mine. I loved ash from the beginning because of how his voice defined him in a way. And how his personality was. There are people who like him and there are people who don't.

Eniitan : I'm not saying I never liked him, but I'm just giving my reasons as to why he really doesn't HAVE to stay there for every season. The one side series in Johto that bounced focus away from Ash is a perfect example of this. It's just a good change of pace, as well.

SWTerra : Sighs* now that I do think about it what you are saying is true. I can agree with that.

I never liked the Anime as much after Misty left. Misty was by far the best girl travelling companion of Ash, and maybe even the greatest travelling companion of Ash. Her sarcasm and humor and constantly belittling Ash was funny. I also loved how she pulled Brock away when he was infatuated by a girl. I was saddened for a little bit when Misty left, but was quickly consoled with the addition of Max. In my opinion, May was ok, but Max was the original gangster. Max was such a boss and was schooling Ash at the beginning of the Advanced Series. I also love how he learned from Misty the art of being a younger sibling and the art of pulling Brock away when he is in "love". I was upset when May and Max left, but I thought Dawn was much better than May. Dawn had an upbeat attitude that made me like her, and she was probably the best coordinator out of Ash's friends. After Dawn left, I couldn't like any characters in the Anime. Cilan was funny sometimes, but he had such a bland personality. Iris was an annoying, arrogant hothead who constantly insulted Ash, but had even bigger flaws herself. I was so happy when Unova ended because I thought there were going to be better characters in Kalos. Boy, was I wrong! Kalos had by far the worst characters in all 6 generations. Clement was an awkward scientist who constantly blew stuff up and his sister was really annoying. I think the thing that the Anime has lost in the last few years (since gen 5 started) was lack of good travelling companions. In Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh, Ash had good travelling companions which made the show more likeable. Watching Black and White, or X and Y makes me want to cringe at who Ash has picked to travel with him. I want them to bring back Misty, Brock, May, Max, Dawn, and Tracy!  

RDay13 : I do agree with you on that. But sadly max...he wasn't really a fav character of mine I actually found him annoying since all he did was tag along and didn't really help much and all. Things were not the same since well may left. I overall love misty since she was the best and most people should be able to see as of why. I didn't really like dawn much to be honest. Things from their just fell apart for me. I actually stopped watching pokemon after frontier ended. For diamond and pearl it was here and there episode wise for me, while the others I saw it on wiki. :/
