I know this has been teased for years, and this is more than likely fake, but what do you guys think of this? If this happens, will Sega go back to making game consoles? Will Persona 5 be a Dreamcast 2 exclusive if this were to happen?

We've arrived at a point where I don't know any longer what to believe and what not. Probably it's another Dreamcast, probably it's an independent console... Who knows, it can be anything.

Still, whatever this ends up being, I must say: NO BRAKES ON THE HYPE TRAIN!

Dreamcast 2 rumors are just rumors. If this one is somehow true though, then I don't know what I'm going to do with my money in the near future.I'm already thinking about getting PS4 and Nintendo NX (or whatever it's final name will be). So if there's going to be a Dreamcast 2, then I don't know what I'm going to do.

The thing about the dreamcast console is it'd be far too late for Sega to make a comeback.


If they did:

They would have to 1) Not get crushed by sony, nintendo and microsoft.

Back when the original Dreamcast was made, it discontinued because Sony's PS2 owned it and every other system during that generation of consoles.


2) Make sure there's actually good games for it.

The Dreamcast had an okay Library of games, most memorable being the Sonic adventure titles.


But I can't stress this enough imo:
Sega still has yet to make up for Having their fanbase deal with horrible Sonic games,
I'd say they need to make up for it. Sega has become a real laughing stock, they need to focus on sonic before they even do another system.



So in the possiblty with Sega being in a bad flood of things and purely relying on sonic and Mobile platforms, I'd say No. I don't forsee a dreamcast 2 ever being a thing.

It is likely never going to happen. I don't think SEGA really has the resources nor enough reason for why they'd want to do it as a company.
They were in a considerably better position when releasing the original dreamcast and had less competition to worry about, with PC gaming not being as big, and due to microsoft and sony not having the same presence and the dreamcast still failed.

They would have a hard time making it worthwhile for them since fans of the original dreamcast is kind of a niche audience, and they'd have to compete with Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony and PC and all of those companies have more experience with today's console market and have access to much better resources meaning it would very likely cost them much more than they'd earn. Add to this that they're not doing too well right now in particular in regards to Sonic and they are far from even in a position where they could consider this. This is nothing more but rumors started by old SEGA/dreamcast fans.

Considering how poor a marketing Sega did for the first one, I fail to see how the second one will be any better commercially. Unless it gives players an out-of-this-world experience no other console can, it will be the end of Sega if ever they release it.

It's completely fake. Not only is it highly unlikely Sega would ever make a console again in the future, putting the number 2 in front of an already used console name just shows off more of how unreliable it is.

Yeah, it is not likely that Sega may not come back to making consoles, mostly because they made some bad business decisions in the past, probably because of their president, that pushed things to fast, like publishing too much add-ons to the Sega Genesis or Mega Drive, and having the Sega Saturn not having too many 3rd party developers. Also, Sega is practically nearly dead though. Sonic Boom ruined Sega and the Sonic franchise and left a lot of damage. Sega still makes good games, but I believe that's not enough. So I would be amazed if Sega announced and makes a new console. I also agree, that the announcement could be fake.
