Title is self explanatory:



Sonic as we all know has never had a final design choice, Sega would always alternate his appearance at some point in time.


His buddies and others are gulity of having the same thing, so I'd figure I'd make a thread listing my top 3 design choices.



1) Morden:
While classic is usually the favored among many, I'm not one of those people. I truly feel as if sonic's design choice should've stopped here at best, as he looks older, taller, and better looking.

The same goes with characters like tails knuckles, and shadow etc.

2) Classic:

These were also really good design choices,  I just never understood why sonic always needed a secondary design change. Hey sega there's a saying"If It ain't broke don't fix it" and for me besides the really bright contrast of the classic characters seen in games like sonic generations, the classic design for characters was also really good:


3) Sonic X:
This for an anime had really good animations and looked fantastic, even to this day, you even saw new characters that weren't even involved mainly in the sonic universe.

4) Sonic Boom:
The sonic boom choices for design look dumb in my opinion. Sonic has a lot of bandages or something around his body, which doesn't make any sense;  I mean, the guy runs fast how could he possibly get injured and have that many bandages or whatever it is wrapped around his body..

Same goes for Knuckles:
I get the dude is supposed to be strong, but He's more like a Marvel's Hulk/Bruce banner Type of a  character now with how bulked up he is in this series, and  it just looks really unappealing.Terrible design choice imo.

I will have to agree with everything you are saying here. Which is why most prefer either classic sonic or morden sonic. Sonic x is another great one to look at but sonic boom....they looked hideous to me. It didn't fit them in a way to explain. Like you said they just look plain dumb. When I first saw knuckles in sonic boom I said woah....he doesn't need to be all that they made him to be. I found it so hard to look at the guy so covered my eyes. Sonic boom has the worst design ever to be made. >.>

Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic are both great if you ask me. Maybe Classic Sonic matured up a bit and transformed into Modern Sonic. Actually Modern Sonic looks older than Classic (young) Sonic. If I really have to pick a favorite, I would say Modern Sonic. That's the Sonic I think about the most. The Sonic X design is awesome as well. But the Sonic Boom characters.. terrible, laughable and silly. They deserve a place in the trash bin (and quickly).

Modern Sonic definitely has my favorite character designs. Sonic and friends designs are far better in those games and in Sonic X than boom, or even classic Sonic for that matter. As much as I like the classic look, Modern looks much better in my opinion. I don't want to imagine what Shadow would've looked like if they would've stuck with the classic look.

I do think it captures the character very well, looks good, slick and overall just very good. I would think it could have some slight improvements, but it's probably the design they should stick with for a while.
I'm going to be honest, I don't like Classic Sonic's design. I think it's a bit dumb and not as good as Modern.
As for Sonic Boom's design...
I like them. Sonic's scarf looks really nice, the design is new and I like it. Same with Knuckles, it makes sense considering he's the strongest hedgehog. I don't see why people say they are terrible. They're nowhere near as good as the Modern design, but they're pretty good.

I prefer the Morden sonic design. It gives him a mature look. Classic sonic's design looked like he had one too many chili dogs.

I agree to the letter with SuperCrash. The modern designs in games such as Sonic Adventure 2 Battle are my favorite designs by far. Next to that would be the classic 16 bit versions. And Sonic X was an anime I really enjoyed, and I'm disappointed the channels I had at the time never finished airing it. I need to go back and watch the rest of what I missed.
