Happy Halloween, everyone! Hope all of you had a great night! XD
This Halloween, I dressed up as a witch again (which is what I’ve been dressing up as for a while now). Usually, I’m not dressed up as any specific witch, just a generic purple one and I don’t wear a mask or paint my face, skin and hands. However, I do usually paint my nails to match the color of my dress and wear a little bit of eye make-up and lip gloss. Today, I left my hair down to billow in the breeze and the wind actually cooperated to help me achieve a windswept look. =P This witch costume was made by someone dear to me (she’s the most awesome seamstress I know), and I just added some of the accessories myself. XD Usually, I go out as a chaperone so in one hand, I would hold a pumpkin bucket to help my group gather more candy. =P Although most witches tend to hold a broom or something similar as well, I only carry the pumpkin bucket because I’m usually holding on to one of the kids with the other hand. ^^
Many years ago, I used to dress up as Yuna from Final Fantasy X and I even styled my hair accordingly, complete with my own version of the beads. A few times, I managed to wear the costume for Yuna to school and that was when I discovered that Yuna’s long sleeves were fun to wear but it was surprisingly difficult to move around without constantly getting them entangled in something. XD People would nearly close the doors on my sleeves, or my sleeves would get caught between the tables and chairs. This is not even mentioning how the sleeves sometimes got in the way when I was trying to write my essays because they would be spread out over the table and I was afraid they would soak up the fresh ink on my paper. Certainly, it was pretty mortifying (or hilarious, according to some people) on the rare occasions when I tripped and some people thought I was actually reenacting a certain scene from the game, but those were still fun and memorable days. (One would think my teachers would be annoyed with my costume, but they were actually pretty cool with it. XD )
In recent years, my hair has finally grown back to be long enough for me to dress up as Tifa Lockhart or Aerith, but I would still need to acquire their costumes first before trying to dress up properly. I had considered dressing up as Tifa before but I thought it wouldn’t really be too much of a challenge if I already more or less looked like her. I had once hoped to dress up as all of the females from the Final Fantasy series, but it looks like that won’t be happening for a while. Someone once joked that with my current hair length, I could probably dress up as Sephiroth instead, but I just can’t really imagine myself dressing up as him (not to mention I’d probably have to bleach or dye my hair to obtain the correct hair color). ^^0 Thus, I’ve been opting to dress up as a random witch, complete with a glittery purple hat.
Earlier in the day, I went out to trick or treat with my group and about halfway through the night, I changed places to help hand out candy instead. There are lots of trick-or-treaters where I live, so Halloween is always very rowdy but it’s still pretty awesome. lol As usual, I was looking forward to seeing what this year’s Halloween would bring and it never fails to amaze me how many people and kids dress up as Elsas and Annas (or other Disney princesses), mini Iron Men and cute little ghosts. XD Those costumes are apparently still quite popular in my area. ^^ Today, I even saw a guy dressed up as a traffic guard! Or maybe that's what he really was, ^^0 but I still think it was just his costume... lol
In the past, near midnight when it was much darker, we used to come back inside to celebrate indoors with some caramel apples, movies and popcorn. Nowadays, Halloween ends much earlier in the day and there are usually only a few stragglers by midnight (I’m not quite sure why this happened, I just noticed it was becoming a trend in my area over the years). Every year, the number of stragglers also decreases so I’m sort of expecting this year to have no one out by the time midnight rolls around. Even with the decrease in the number of people that are out later, the amount of candy we have to prepare still remains the same, which I find amusing. XD As with previous years, this year’s Halloween was also a blast, and now I have added many more pictures of lovely costumes to my (unofficial) collection!
Anyways, I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween with lots of fun, treats and candy (or something better, because I know some people believe in fruits instead) lol <3
