TIPS AND ADVICE

   Here I thought I'd add some
helpful tips and advice that I was told growing up playing the game.
Hopefully they will help make the game easier to go through as they did
for me.

   Tip 1:  Seeing as Pikachu is your starter Pokémon I
suggest that after Professor Oak gives you your Pokedex you head back to
Viridian City and then head off to the left. There you will want to
stay in that patch of grass till you have caught a Spearow and a Mankey.
Reason being is Spearow will help you go through Viridian Forest a lot
easier. And Mankey will want to be used in Brock's gym cause fighting
types are great against rock. If for some reason you failed to catch a
Mankey you can also catch a Caterpie and evolve it into Butterfree. By
then Butterfree should have learned Confusion. If not continue leveling
it until it does. Just spam that move and you'll win with ease.

  
Tip 2: About halfway through the game you will arrive to a town called
Celedon City. There you will see building called The Celedon Department
store. The main item to buy there is a Thunder Stone. I hear you say
''But Pikachu doesn't evolve in the version". And you're right he does
not. What you want to do is put him in storage. Here is the reason why.
When you first see the apartment building there is a back way inside.
Take that entrance. Continue going that way till you come to a room with
a poke ball on the table. Inside that pokeball is a Evee (your rivial
isn't the only one that has one now). Now what your going to do is use
that thunder stone on Evee and evolve it into a Jolteon. The reason
being is due to the fact Pikachu can't evolve by that time in the game
he has out lived his usefulness. Also make sure you still have the TM
you got from Surge. That way you can teach it to Jolteon.

   Tip
3: For my 3rd tip make sure when you get to the point you are offered
the 3 original starters you take them. Especially Charmander as he will
prove valuable for Erica's Grass Gym.

   Tip 4: For my final tip someone will give you a Lapras. I suggest taking it as its the only one in game and a great replacement for Squirtle who may or may not have out lived his usefulness by then.

  
Alright those are just some of my tips I thought I'd share with you
guys. Feel free to use them or not. I'm not here to tell you that is the
right way to play. I am just here to pass on tips that helped me to get
through Pokémon Yellow far easier then I normally would have.
