CD based games are usually big because of all their large video and audio files, what is it called when an ISO has these things removed? And where can I find a site that has such files? I'm kinda interested to see what the file size of these are.

What you refer to is called a "Ripped Game".
Images of officially released games that have been reduced in size and content (soundtracks and / or videos have been removed).
For example, Final Fantasy 7 originally has sizes of 713mb, 699mb and 699mb for discs 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
If you gut it and remove all the sounds / videos it becomes more like 171mb, 166mb and 166mb for the three.

Thanks for the links. I saw some of the files start out at 200 MB and end up around 10 MB after the music and video files were removed. Wonder if a person couldn't just heavily optimize/compress the music files within the game but still get rid of the video files.

I was playing with the idea of possibly adding some cd based games to the rgr seeing how small they are when music and cutscenes are removed. If enough people would still play these games without those 2 things than I'd consider putting a few games up but it's just an idea at the moment and I'm not to serious about it yet.

Not to mention having to deal with the bios stuff. Even if I did consider this, it'd be something months into the future since we're still working on getting the current systems to play correctly (although the genesis emulator does support sega cd).

The tutorial page is really sweet, really long though.

I think adding Ripped PSX games to the RGR and adding epsxe to the RGR Plugin is a great idea. I've played dozens of ripped games through to the end and I still found them enjoyable. You still get the same gameplay the original full title delivers, you just dont get to see the fmv's or listen to most of the music.

Of yeah, and you can't pick and choose what you take out in alot of cases, most times it's all or nothing.

I personally think music is a huge part of a video game so as a huge gamer, it'd be really hard for me to add psx games to the site if they had no music. Some of the music I most enjoy are from video games, video game composers are far better than any music artist out there in my opinion.
