I'm wanting to get more RAM on my new PC.  It has  8 GB RAM, but I want to add at least 8 GB more. So, can I just install the RAM right onto the Motherboard, or do I need to do something first?

If you guys can help me with this that would be incredibly awesome!

If you guys need to know anything more just ask... I'm going to pick up the RAM today, I'm hoping to get the 16 GB RAM... I could get the 8GB x 2 kit, but I'm leaning towards the 16 GB's or RAM.

I suggest checking out Reddit.  There are people on /r/buildapc that would love to help with your questions (and offer you advice on what to get!).  Reddit's PC scene is actually pretty large, so I not only suggest you check out that subreddit, but others if you're looking for advice, to trade games, or people to play with on PC.  It may be difficult to find like-minded individuals, however; if you're like me.

Whoa whoa whoa, hang on. Before you go buying RAM, you HAVE to check if your motherboard has space to upgrade more RAM! Some motherboards can only have a certain amount of RAM that can be upgraded. It's not like they have unlimited spots for you to add more. You MUST check that first.

Other than that, you also need to check what type of RAM is compatible with your motherboard and compare the costs. DDR5 should be the latest one, which means they are better, but they are also more expensive.

play4fun : My Motherboard has 2 open spots, but I did get the RAM and installed it properly... I made sure and checked compatibility etc... It worked out.

supernerd117 : Thanks for the tip... I asked a guy at Best Buy (one of the guys who was in the computer section.) He gave advise and hooked me up with the right RAM. I told him what I wanted and he got it.

Local Mods : Please close, question has been answered.
