Oddly enough I just found this site, recommended to me and glad it was.

So a bit about me ... 
HeathenEngineer isn't my name as you might have guessed  but it is my common handle
My name is James McGhee ... its not secret ... I am a professional software engineer and aspiring indie developer which along with being a husband and father is all I do.

When it comes to games and game tech it has been my hobby, passion and main driver for longer than you would care to hear about I'm sure. Along with playing games I also enjoy moding and founded Heathen Engineering which is a small indie group that develops game software assets (shaders, tools, etc.) as well as being mid swing in game development on its first title. 

I am always ready to chat about games, game tech, software Dev and am always happy to help anyone where I can so don't hesitate to drop me a line.

Of all time I would probably go with the darker fantasy/rpg games like Diablo, Baulders Gate, Divinity, 3DO had one Hell I think it was called not my usual style at the time but loved that particular game. Knights of the Old Republic though it doesn't entirely fit in with the others was great game and IP.

In the older console era it was Zelda, Contra, Streets of Rage and from Mortal Kombat forward just about any fighter

PC though is where I spend most of my gaming time and pretty well play any game I can get my hands on but a few major games for me in the past few years have been:
Morrowind and Oblivion; Skyrim was okay but prefer the older 2 
Fallout 3, tend to play more New Vegas but prefer 3 I think ... really looking forward to the new Fallout
Mount and Blade is always a solid play and well really anything I can manage to mod which is a lot of games these days.

I have always wanted to try out Diablo 3 but I never had the money for it so I could never try it, and I don't know about the other games really. One of my favorites on that list of yours is Fallout 3, that's the only game I played in the series along with Vegas (don't remember if it was 3 or VG) and I just loved 3, so many things to do, such a big map, and a lot of fun.

Diablo 3 honestly was a bit of a let down for me; of course the original I was such a huge fan of and 3 is just so far removed from that dark gritty feeling that 1 had or at least that I remember .

Fallout games are always a lot of fun and the strong modder community really helps it remain a staple in my library no matter the age of the game.

Wow, this is such a cool introduction! It's nice to see an engineer here, I've always thought engineering is a cool field to be in However, I don't really want to be an engineer when I grow up. There are multiple other things I'm considering instead, like working with animals.
