As many of you know, I've virtually disappeared from vizzed for a bout three or four months now. This has been because of the job I now have. I've graduated from High School, and got a job at the local Culver's... That wouldn't do too much for activity, if I didn't close... But sadly I do. This means I work late, get up late... This makes it harder for me to make posts, but don't worry. I shall soon have more regular hours, after a while of complete inactivity. I have begun the sign-up process for the Army, but this shall soon be done. I enlist this Thursday. 

I am really excited to do this, as it's something I've been working for about the past year. This process can take a long time to complete, especially because of the paperwork. I had to fill out around 28 pages of questions about my past, present and medical conditions etc. I passed the ASVAB, which is the Aptitude test for the military... The score I got was way better than I had expected... It was an 89. That is only 10 points below the highest possible rating. That alone was just amazing. The recruiter I've had the pleasure of working with is amazing. A friendly guy who really knows what he's doing. He is getting me into Airborne training, and possibly Ranger school. That would be just amazing! 

So, in short, I'll have more regular hours once, basic, Airborne school, and AIT is done.

darthyoda : I hope you make sure you're prepared mentally, physically and spiritually.  I've heard about so many people getting PTSD out there and coming back barely able to handle life.  It won't be a video game out there.  In combat, you'll likely have to kill real people.  People that have the capacity for change and might have changed for the better had they been given the opportunity.  People with families they might have gone back to if given the chance.  You'll have to live with whatever choices you make for the rest of your life.  If you make sure they're good choices, then I know you'll come back a better man.  I hope you'll be somebody even your superiors can look up to.

But most of all, I hope you don't worry!  That doesn't mean I don't hope you have concerns.  But from what I've heard, worry and combat don't mix very well.  Scout motto: Be prepared!  And if you're prepared, you won't have any fear or worry of things to come.  I know this to be true.

My biggest concern if I ever joined the army would be that my leaders would try to have me do things contrary to my beliefs.  For example, swear and disregard the sanctity of life.  I've heard stories about such things, and I believe it is very real, although I can't say how widespread it is.

I hope my words don't come across as too corny (although corn tastes pretty good, from what I've heard).  Do good out there.  God speed.

I remember the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery sounds weird. XD), they said I did really well, it was a while ago, and I don't remember the score. They asked if I wanted to take another test to see if I should join the military, I said nope. XD But this thread isn't about me, it's about you!

   Yeah, I hope it all goes well for you, I'm part of an Air-Force family, so I know it can be rough, especially if you have close family. They'll miss you if you get deployed. Just keep it up, if this is really what you want. I wish you the best.


P.S. Oh, and totally try to be an Army Ranger, those guys are SO badass! XD

I signed a contract and I'm going to ship off to basic on the 3rd of November! Can't wait for it to get started. 

I'm so excited that the initial sign-up process is over... but really it's not over. The process goes into the first week of Basic... it's just the way things work in the government. Paperwork, more paperwork... what's that, oh, yeah. MORE PAPERWORK!
