I do not do drugs


I'm sure that this happens all of the time, honestly. My mom keeps on asking me if I'm doing drugs. I know 100% of the reason that she thinks I do drugs is because whenever she asks me its always at night or in the morning where my speech isn't completely "warm up" for the day and I slur my words a little bit.

*Note - marijuana is not a drug (or at least what she's referring to by drug) in my household

I can't even explain how frustrated I get when she asks me because the way she says it its like she accusing me. She's asked me about 5 to 6 times recently (past week) and numerous times before that too. Every time she asks me I literally want to just grab a few things from my room and walk out the door and never go back.

Do your parent do things like this to you as well that annoy you beyond belief?

My parent's know that I will never do drugs (long history of addicts on both sides of my famaily and I don't want to chance it) or drink. And even if I do drink once I'm an adult it will only be the obligatory 'social drink,' the one you nurse throughout the night so as not to look odd. My parents do regulary remind me about the dangers of drugs and whatnot though, but their real concern for me is... *ahem* pornography. Let's just say they were... erm... 'shocked' when they found my digital stash and have been trying to prevent me from continueing to look at it while I'm still living in thier house. At least a couple times a week they'll find a way to look at my computer or something, they'll find a way to surreptitiously check my files. But they haven't found anything. I am no longer being lax in how I'm hiding files of that nature lol

My mother used to ask me if I was on drugs last year. Probably because I was too hyperactive back then.

I'm posting from a parents point of view here so bear that in mind.


Parents worry about that sort of stuff. We've grown up with someone who got sucked into some sort of drug or alcohol addiction which has ruined their lives and we don't want our kids to experience that. And once kids reach a certain age there is little to nothing parents can do about it. We just hope that if our kids do any drugs that they will tell us so we can help them escape it somehow.


So, while it might be annoying that your parent(s) asks just remember that they care whether or not you are doing drugs.

I've had my dad ask if I drink/smoked anything, but I don't do any of that stuff either. Usually though it's after coming home from someplace. He asked me once after coming home from my brothers house if I did anything, and asked if I drank anything another time when picking me up with my other brother (which I actually had a shot of whiskey, forced to by brother, still said no though).

No.. my mom hasn't ever asked me if I do drugs. My dad isn't a part of my life so yeah. I don't do drugs or smoke weed but I do smoke cigs. I ended up telling my mom that I started smoking cigs a couple of weeks ago after doing it for 5-6 + months. She didn't say anything much except why I would want to do that to my body... cigs aren't a drug but they are toxic or whatever you want to call it. Though Idc what people really tell me about it because it helps me cope with my life and stress.

Yeah, I don't do drugs, smoke anything, or drink alcohol. I never really got lectures on the negative effects from my parents either. Everytime I've ever tasted any kind of alcohol, it was disgusting. Okay, well, I don't drink alcohol, but I'll take a sip of something new, even though I know I'll hate it. Honestly, even the smell makes me feel like throwing up.

   So, nope. I've never been asked that question, jokingly or not. Also, my dad's a police officer, but that doesn't really influence my decisions anyways. I just hate anything that alters my normal mental processes, whether or not they make me feel better. I like acting like me.

   So, hypothetically, if they did ask me, I'd be honest and say, "Nope."  Or jokingly stare at them like I'm shocked they found out my "secret".

   My sisters on the other hand though...

The next time they ask, try to, politely and very respectfully, ask why they keep asking. Then reassure them you are not doing any drugs and they don't have to worry about you starting.

They are just very worried, likely because of how they must imagine the average teen is acting now a days. Truth is, current teens are using hard drugs as much, if not slightly less, than previous generations, studies show. Pot and prescription drugs are another story, though.

My Mother doesn't really care that much if I done drugs or not, but I avoid these garbage as much as possible. But my Grandmother is a different story though because she does think that she has this affiliation with the state government, and if I started to do any sort of drugs, then she'll report me to the state officials and I would be screwed.

As for Legal things like smoking and alcohol, I will never smoke at all in my life and I will never start smoking. As for alcohol, I do have to admit, I have drink a couple of alcoholic drinks as soon as I turned 21, but that was mostly it and I don't want to go back, other than that, I haven't drink either, my mother don't care if I drink, but as long I don't drink on a work night.
