What I'm trying to say is that Tabasco Sauce is really really hot. I was at chipotle today having a burrito with extra hot sauce and about an hour after I left on the train I noticed that I had a small hot sauce stain on my hand that was just glues to my hand. A couple hours later when I got home, the stain was gone, but there was actually a very light and slightly painful burn on my hand where the stain was.

I always knew hot sauce had the potential to be hot, but I never knew that it could actually burn your skin. If it can so something like that to your skin, can't it do something just as bad inside you?

I'll make sure to post a pic when I can.

I didn't know about that either, and I've had hot sauce in an oyster cracker at Skyline Chili once. It really wasn't fun. I never touched it but I think I got pretty bad damage in my throat after that. My throat didn't feel normal for a while after the burn finally went away.

I'm pretty sure it can do something that bad inside of you. Now that I think about it, if that's true then Markiplier had an even tougher time with hot sauce then I thought. He's done several videos of him having extreme hot sauce (a million Scoville units for the more mild one).

Well hot sauce will do that to the skin because the skin can be very sensitive to certian things especially things like hot sauce. There is nothing wrong with eating hot sauce, I mean I love the stuff and I don't think it would do that to you inside because if it would then I don't think people would be selling hot sauce and there would be a ton of law suits. I wouldn't worry about this to much.

Capsaicin. It's the stuff that makes peppers hot, and it's in hot sauce sometimes solely from the peppers, and sometimes as an added ingredient all it's own (this is more prevalent in the super hot stuff. Much worse than Tabasco). It doesn't actually burn you, it just tricks your brain into feeling like you're being burned. The soreness and redness that is caused by prolonged exposure to hot pepper juice or hot sauces is a result of your brain being so fooled by this perceived burning that it causes inflammation at the site of contact. No actual damage occurs.

Long story short, you weren't actually burned, your mind just thinks you were. The same is true for your mouth every time you eat peppers or hot sauce. And yeah, this is actually a pretty common reaction to topical exposure to hot peppers or hot sauce, so always wash after contact...especially before a bathroom break...but that's a personal lesson that I don't wanna talk about. lol

Tabasco, hot? A little, but only just. For real hot stuff, you should check out Dave's Ultimate Insanity. Now THAT is hot. I've seen adults cry at one single drop of it. Good stuff right there. xD

Hot sauce dose not actually burn you... But if someone says that hot sauce will get hair dye off your skin don't believe them. I did and my face was numb with pain for weeks.

zanderlex : It didn't burn your skin. Hot sauce is not actually hot. Capsaicin just happens to trigger the sensory nerves that signal heat, so we just perceive it as hot. The mark on your hand was nothing more than the sauce itself staining your skin (no different than iodine or kool-aid powder) and the capsaicin triggering those specific nerves in your skin, giving you the impression that it left a burn. But it actually did no harm to your skin at all.

I love hot and spicy. I am pretty numb to Tobasco sauce. I like to sprinkle dried crushed ghost chili peppers in things like pastas or pizza. It is delicious. The absolute hottest thing I ever had was when I was in Florida. There was a hot sauce store where you could get free samples of anything in the store. Their sauces were split up on a heat scale of 1-10. Tobasco was only a 3 at this store. Before they would let you sample something on their 10 rank, you had to work your way up to make sure you could handle it. I made it there. Everything else, you got a small cup where you could dip some chips in to sample them. For this stuff though, they had this thing the size of a toothpick that had a tiny little spoon on the end. You literally can only fit a very tiny drop on it. They dip it in the bottle and dab it on your tongue. It was incredible how hot a tiny drop was. This particular stuff is NOT to be used as a dip. It is meant to be used for putting a kick in things like chili. To bring your chilli up to the heat of a raw habenero pepper, the instructions on the bottle said to put only 2 drops per GALLON of chilli. That is what I had on my tongue. To put this into more of a reference: a tobasco pepper reads at around the 30,000-50,000 scoville heat units. This sauce reads 1.9million scoville heat units. Literally 63 times that of the tobasco pepper, which is watered down to make tabasco sauce.

I love hot, but I do NOT recommend doing this. It was hard to breathe.
