My personal preference is fantasy. Maybe it's just the way I grew up, but anytime I have the ability to summon demons or throw a beam of ice from my hands, I feel empowered. Swords have also always fascinated me, not to mention the amazing worlds these stories are set in. Dark Souls, Final Fantasy, Skyrim, TERA, they're all amazing and beautiful! And the characters. What do you think of when you think fantasy? Interesting characters speaking in old english accents. What could be better? Oh wait... FRIGGIN DRAGONS!!! LITERALLY HOW CAN YOU BEAT DRAGONS?!!!

As for Sci-Fi, I'm not against it, but I'm also not into it. I love Star Wars, but Star Trek gets on my nerves. To me the techno babble gets boring pretty quickly, and can easily cross the line of BS. And aliens are just... boring. I've seen them do some cool things with em', but I reaaaally hate it when they do the same crap every time. Which is nearly every time. If someone can pull off good Sci-Fi then I'll like it, but over all it's just not as awesome as fantasy. Killing dragons with magic will never get old.

I'm a fantasy man myself. Swords and magic and races of creatures and all that good stuff is what makes me get into a story. There is some kind of appeal that it has to me that sci-fi doesn't really match.

Well, I'm pretty much the opposite. Unless you only mean RPGs. Then I'll take fantasy. Otherwise, charge the lasers and power up the warp field generator. I do think that some Sci-Fi like Star Wars especially is really more fantasy than anything else though. They just use lightsabers instead of swords. And Luke has fought some pretty nasty beasts like the Rancor Monster. Plus the force is magic basically. They can even cast lightning bolt. lol

Fantasy. Nothing is more badass than being a non-human wearing a swallowtail coat and blasting fire from your palms at a gargantuan raid-boss thats a cross between a dragon, demon, and some sort of canine... Not like I've thought about this at all, ever.

As awesome as lightsabers are, I'd definitely have to go with Fantasy because being able to wield magic would be so much more amazing, and being able to be in a Final Fantasy-like world would be an experience unlike any other. I'd pwn my enemies with Flare and Blizzaga.

Fantasy. I like nearly all fantasy worlds. I am pretty selective what sci-fi realms interest me.

Personally this is actually a suprisingly difficult choice for me to make. I like fantasy worlds and I've definietly played more video games that play out in them but at the same time the concept of a highly futuristic world or one centered around travelling in space seems very cool to me perhaps because it seems more limitless, and possibly more exciting than just travelling around in a much smaller fantasy world, granted I think realizing how vast space is would almost make it a bit scary

On another note, while being able to wield magic and stuff like that would be cool I think the tech in a sci fi world would give a feeling like being magic on it's own, kind of like the whole saying about how technology itself is magic.
