So here's another unpopular opinion for size and probably even more of a controversial opinion to have on this particular board than not liking OoT...

I find pretty much all 3D sonic games (save colors and generations) overrated. But to narrow it down to the ones I find the most overrated by far I'd have to say Sonic Adventure DX since most other 3D sonic games still do receive a lot of criticism and rightfully so, this one stands supposedly as a "classic" some even saying it's the best Sonic game to date and I can't really see why other than nostalgia bliding people.

Bad graphics, with the most horrifying facial and character animation I've seen in a big budget 3D game (at the time it came out anyways was improved later on), bad voice acting (and don't get me started on that lip syncing), cringe worthy soundtrack, repetetive and monotonous gameplay during most stories that's made nearly unplayable at some points due to the way too zoomed in camera, and for how beloved the story of the games are among sonic fans I found it to be pretty barebones (though I could say that for all of the sonic games).

*some spoilers ahead*

The only one that I somewhat liked was the one about E 102 Gamma only for the iron giant esque ending (though it still can't really compare to that movie) and even that one wasn't particularly good from a writing standpoint with basically never showing the character development just going from evil to good seemingly out of nowhere.

That's just talking about the first, while I haven't played that much of Sonic Adventure 2, from what I've seen and heard it's supposedly even worse >.>

How about this one - I'm sick and tired of the trophies or accomplishments you can get for simply playing the game.

Congrats - you turned on the console.
Congrats - you started playing a game.
Congrats - you died.
Congrats - you killed 1 enemies.
Congrats - you killed 10 enemies of type A.

ETC ETC ETC.

Since when did these sort of things become accomplishments? Things that happen in the normal course of the game should not be accomplishments.

geeogree : I agree. Achievements/Trophies are ridiculous nowadays.

Did anyone mention Donkey Kong Country 3? I think that it is one of the best games in the SNES. Same goes for the original music, too -especially Rockface Rumble which is a remix of Kannon's Klaim anyway, so of course I'd like it.

That's seriously underrated and neglected for no apparant reason other than Kiddy Kong...

Oh yeah, and I don't see the use of the console war. Sony and Microsoft barely develop for their own system compared to Nintendo. Sony does sometimes though, but Microsoft probably develops about 6 games on the system total.

I honestly love most Digimon games, but I know they're not very good. Digimon World Dawn/Dusk was really cool and fun...but it was also extremely tedious and grindy, and Digimon Adventure PSP was an amazing adaption of the anime..too bad it was horribly repetitive.

Other than that, eh. I don't really have that much unpopular opinions.

Oooooh, I got another one.

I don't like any of the Fallout games. They get recommended to me on a fairly frequent basis when I'm asking for games to play and I don't like them. Well, to be fair I have tried Fallout 3 and New Vegas and didn't like either of them. I'm not sure what the problem is with the games but they feel really clunky. And I never felt invested in either of the games even after a few hours of playing.

I have a lot of unpopular gaming opinions here are a few. 


The SNES sound chip isn't very good. Sure it can play samples but they don't sound clear. They sound like they are being played under a pillow (though I do like Final Fantasy 3's OST) I prefer the much clearer and more electronic sounding Genesis sound chip.


I like Duke Nukem Forever (on PC)

I think Halo isn't very good (the original) the level design is really bland and the environments are way too big. The game just feels generic.

I liked the Thief reboot.

Fallout 3 is not very good. Bland world, muddy textures (even for the time) lifeless characters, dreadful combat, really slow gameplay.

In fact I think ALL Bethesda games are overrated. I can see the appeal in these games but why do people overlook how technically broken they are?

So here's another one, in general I do not like the Assassins Creed games. I did like Black Flag but other then that, they're very meh overall. III, Unity and Syndicate all seem terrible in my opinion and right now each game basically seems to be a step down from the previous, being riddled with glitches because they want to keep a 1 year release cycle to maximize their profits, not really having any real innovation since Black Flag, just sticking to the same formula because they know fanboys will happily eat it up. For me personally it started getting old after I played Black Flag for just that reason.

Heck I'll honestly say that the way things are right now the Call of Duty games are more innovative at least those have a much more polished and refined core formula uninspired as the games may have become.

I have a couple of unpopular opinions.

I have quite a few games I really don't like.

Any First Person Shooters (FPS). I don't really get those games, like Call of Duty, Halo, and all those games. I don't really understand the whole point of the game. It's crazy that it's almost the same thing, just a different name and a different gameplay, but the concept is basically the same, just go around like an idiot and kill people on the other team just for bragging rights. Boring.

All those Micro-transaction games. Some examples like Clash of Clans, Boom Beach, and games like that. I understand that people wants to build the biggest village as possible and spending real money to do so. Ok, I do admit that I pay in-game purchases on my 3DS on a couple of games, but that is a different story.

Most Sports games. Ok, I do admit almost all the sports games released seems like a waste because 90% of the content is recycled from the last game, just only changed a few players in the roster, but that's it.

One unpopular game opinion I have is that all FPS games besides Star Wars Battlefront are overrated. They're all generic and they don't make themselves different with each installment (I'm talking to you Call of Duty). People think EA milks Madden, but yet they play shooters that get milked just as much? It makes no sense to me.

I think that FFVI is overrated...and so is Chrono Trigger.
They aren't bad, but they get so many accolades and both use the annoying party split.
Leave our main character alone!

- Sonic Adventure 2 is overrated and frankly quite bad.
- Undertale really isn't that good.
- Fallout 4 is far from the best game of it's genre.
- Indie games are not automatically better.
- Call Of Duty "clone" sequels. aren't bad games.
- Final Fantasy series has gone on way too long.
- Pokemon isn't getting worse designs/stories, even in the first game some pokemon were unoriginal and bland (Grimer, electrode, etc...)
- Graphics don't make a game good, but I'd rather play a game that looks visually appealing than on that's bland.
- The retro pixel style thing most games are doing to be "retro" and "vintage" I find lazy and boring unless they do something cool with it. Which most don't.

Here's a few:

• Shadow the Hedgehog is a pretty good game.
• Final Fantasy isn't all that great.
• Kingdom Hearts isn't that fun.
• Doom 3 was pretty bad.
• Nintendo is an excellent company and the Wii U is amazing.
• Pokemon is a bit overrated.
• To this day, Sonic is still good (not counting a couple mishaps.)
• The Elder Scrolls can get a bit boring, even with mods.
• Metroid Prime: Federation Force looks really good.
• Call of Duty is a great game, once all the screaming children are taken away from it.
• Team Fortress 2 flat-out sucks.
  

TristanTehGamer1 : In response to your post about indie games being boring, I'd recommend that you check out more indie games. There are tons of different kinds, and I guarantee there is plenty out there that you would like. Saying you don't like indie games is like saying you don't like video games. It just means that it's indie developed, nothing more.

I've got a few I want to say here...

• Sonic Adventure 2 is overrated, but not bad. Garbage camera, somewhat glitchy and clunky gameplay, and other intricate issues make this game far from being a quintessential classic. While I do hold a ton of nostalgia for the game and claim it to be one of my favorite games of all time, it is not due to me being completely blind to the issues it has.
• The Legend of Zelda 2 is a good game. It was a very interesting side-scroller RPG spin to follow up on the original game. It absolutely has problems, and nothing can justify Death Mountain, but the game is overall fun if you know what to do. And I still find it less cryptic than the first Legend of Zelda game was (yes, even the requirement to play a whistle in the middle of three rocks to unlock the final dungeon, and to use a hammer to cut trees in order to find a hidden town).
• Super Mario World has some of the worst physics in an early Mario platform game (with the worst going to Super Mario Land, imo). The game is fantastic, don't get me wrong. But I can never touch the game without something feeling off about it all. The level design suits the physics well, but the control just feels slippery at times and overly floaty.
• Pokémon Generation 6 is starting to grow on me, and fast, as one of my favorite generations. While the early part of it is still one I hate (I'm still upset that I bought Pokémon X, hating both the story and most of the characters, who came off as bland stereotypes almost all the time), I have greatly enjoyed OR/AS (although I started with Generation 3, so I may have clear bias there), and Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon has become my favorite Mystery Dungeon game in the whole series.
  

I think Team Fortress 2 is really overrated. It's novel for the first few days but then it gets really boring and generic with the same strategies prevailing for each map.

I also think the Mega Man Battle Network games are seriously overrated. The characters are great but at the core MMBN is the same slow-paced grind fest that 90% of all RPG's are nowadays.

Sonic Adventure 2 is overrated, as is Final Fantasy 7 and Ocarina of Time. They're all pretty fun to play, but really? They're hardly the best games in their franchises.

I think FNAF is cancerous garbage

Y4123 : I literally can't agree more. I never saw the fun of jump scares. 

I also (even though in the process of still playing it) think Sinnoh is the best Pokémon region, yes it has 10 MILLION HMs you can't get rid of and the battles are slower to all get out but I think the poketch was an amazing idea. There was a lot of stories explaining things in the Pokémon world and history were extremely interesting (I'm probably a bit biased about this though) and the Pokémon weren't that bad as people say them to be. I don't mind water levels as long as they're not like Labyrinth Zone 

I dislike both Final Fantasy and GTA. Final Fantasy, I just couldn't get into. Whenever I played, it just naturally turned me off. As for GTA, way too vulgar and disgusting for me personally.

Call of Duty is pretty recycled. Same old, same old every game.

Gen 4 of Pokemon was the worst gen. Too slow in graphics and plot, and just the least contributing to the whole franchise save a few features IMO.
