Most of you should know about the Video Game Character feature by now but for those who don't, it's a feature that allows you to find information about every video game character and also view all of the screenshots tagged to that character. It's still in an early phase but it's progressing. Anyways, you now earn CP and Viz for various actions dealing with this feature and below you'll find more details of each.


Character Adding = 1 CP and 100 Viz
Normal users and up can add character pages to the site. When a non-staff member adds a character, the character goes into a pending phase but the character still gets a profile page and is still taggable (but they will not appear in the drop down on the edit screenshot page).

As long as this doesn't get abused, I'll keep it so that non-staff members earn CP and Viz right away when they add characters. If it does get abused then they'll have to wait until a staff member approves their character to receive their CP and Viz. This also applies to the 'Franchise Adding' action.

Franchise Adding = 5 CP and 500 Viz
Trusted users and up can add missing franchise pages to the site. When a non-staff member adds a franchise, the franchise goes into a pending phase but the franchise still gets a profile page and is still selectable from the character add and edit page.

Character Editing (Staff Only)
The amount depends on what's being edited.
-Name: If the name entered is wrong (1 CP and 50 Viz)
-Franchise: Assigning a franchise to the character (0.5 CP and 25 Viz)
-First Appearance: The very first game the character ever appeared in (1 CP and 50 Viz)
-Gender: Gender of the character (0.1 CP and 5 Viz)
-Bio: A brief bio that you write up yourself (0.05 CP & 2.5 Viz per word w/max of 10 CP & 500 Viz)

Franchise Editing (Staff Only)
The amount depends on what's being edited.
-Name: If the name entered is wrong (1 CP and 50 Viz)
-Bio: A brief bio that you write up yourself (0.05 CP & 2.5 Viz per word w/max of 10 CP & 500 Viz)

Approving a Character = 0.3 CP and 15 Viz (Staff Only)
When you Approve a pending character.

Disable a Character = 3 CP and 150 Viz (Staff Only)
When you Disable a character.

Approving a Franchise = 0.5 CP and 25 Viz (Staff Only)
When you Approve a pending franchise.

Disable a Franchise = 5 CP and 250 Viz (Staff Only)
When you Disable a franchise.


This next action is one that already existed but I figured I'd mention it in this thread for those who didn't know about it and also as a way to encourage users to do it more.


Screenshot Character Tagging = 0.1 CP and 10 Viz per character
You can earn 0.1 CP and 10 Viz per character you tag in a screenshot that you've taken. You can earn CP and Viz for up to 3 characters you tag per a screenshot (but you can still tag more than 3 characters per a screenshot).

I notice on the VGR game pages when clicking "Click Here to Upload Your Screenshots' the button Select Files is missing when using Firefox. Not sure if that is a recent bug, or has always been overlooked. The button does display when using IE.

Just to make sure for the future, is this permanent or just for this month due to the video game character competition?

Here are some adjustments I've made recently.

Character Adding
From 2 CP and 200 Viz to 1 CP and 100 Viz.

Approving a Character
From 1 CP and 50 Viz to 0.3 CP and 15 Viz.

Declining a Character
From 2 CP and 100 Viz to 3 CP and 150 Viz.

Editing Character Gender
From 0.5 CP and 25 Viz to 0.1 CP and 5 Viz.

Editing Character Gender
From 0.5 CP and 25 Viz to 0.2 CP and 10 Viz.

Approving a Franchise
From 2.5 CP and 125 Viz to 0.5 CP and 25 Viz.

Editing Character or Franchise Bio
From 5 CP and 250 Viz to 0.05 CP and 2.5 Viz per a word (max of 10 CP and 500 Viz per bio).
