Mine would be squirtle to be honest. Because of the powerful moves he gets as he evolves. It used to be mudkip in the past when I played pokemon emerald to the point that I never stopped. For some reason I switched my starter to torchic and stopped using mudkip. I don't really use mudkip as much as I used too in the past sadly. Or I would have voted for him. '-'

Totodile 4 sure.

It has always been my favourite gen 2 starter, and always will be. Feraligatr is fast, hits hard, has the bulk to take at least one attack, and has so far never failed me. Also the first mon I ever brought to the league, as well as my first starter, and I am proud of that.

I'm a big fan of the Sinnoh starters, so Piplup for me. Water / Steel is a nice combination, only having 3 weaknesses. Empoleon is a great, bulky pokemon with access to stealth rock and defog. Kind of sucks that he does not get reliable recovery in roost but given his bulk a rest set is still pretty viable in competitive play.

Not to mention his design himself. He's an armored penguin (automatic yes right there). His stats are pretty good as well; the only thing he lacks is speed, which isn't a huge issue since he's most commonly used as a supporting wall.

Obviously, it's gotta be Mudkip. The type combination is perfect, taking away the Electric type weakness Water types have. My favorite starter of Gen 3.

I have to say it is SQUIRTLE. It is my favorite starter, and sometimes when I play with him I like to keep him unevolved... I do not know why, but I his cute face...

My favorite has to be Mudkip, if I don't choose Torchic, I usually choose Mudkip in Hoenn games because Mudkip and it's evolved forms are epic and really get the job done, unlike Treecko and the thing I hate about Blaziken is how easily it loses in a battle against Rayquaza. Swampert doesn't have those problems, it deals with Rayquaza head on and does pretty well. I can say that Mudkip is my favorite because of how useful it is.

I have to go with Mudkip. The water / ground typing is almost perfect in my opinion and leaves little room for weakness. Also I love the move - set. Things like mud slap, mud shot, muddy water, and earthquake all learned naturally is a big plus. And he is perfect for surf, so that's one less HM to have to worry about (although waterfall and dive are horrid battle moves). Mudkip for life

I like all the water type starters and if I could have a team of them I would but among all the water type starters mudkip would have to be my favorite not only because it's a starter in my favorite Pokemon region but because of it's ability to learn ground type moves. It makes pokemon like diglett and dugtrio feel useless.
