This month's High Score competition is for 'Sonic the Hedgehog - Pocket Adventure' for the Neo Geo Pocket Color. You can play it here:

The point of this competition is to beat the game as fast as you can.


VIDEO REQUIRED: You must must use the RGR Plugin's built in video recording to record the gameplay and then upload that video to the Vizzed YouTube account.

RULES: You MUST play the game using the RGR Plugin in 'Timetrial Mode' and take a screenshot of the ending screen by pressing F6 when you've completed the game. To play in 'Timetrial Mode', scroll down the page where it shows the Speed Runs, you'll see a link that says 'Click Here to Compete for Speed Run', click that. Once you've taken your screenshot, click the link near that one that says 'Click Here to Submit your Speed Run' to submit your speed run.

You cannot cheat or use glitches of any sort.

Do you have to collect all the chaos emeralds through the bonus games?

Davideo7 : I'll check it out later. This game is not near as long or difficult as genesis Sonic games.

Huh! What a coincidence, I was just thinking about trying this game out the other day too.

rcarter2 : That's good to hear.

Linkums : I definitely need to show off some more games on unpopular systems and doing competitions for games on those systems is a great way to educate users. Even though the Neo Geo Pocket Color (and a ton of other systems) are in the Retro Game Room, a lot of users still haven't played games for those systems, heck I'm sure a lot of users haven't even realized those systems are available.

Davideo7 : I can confirm that you don't need all the chaos emeralds to get that end screen. Also, you might want to explicitly state that you have to beat the game on default settings, because there's an options menu where you can switch to easy mode and increase your starting lives, among other things.

Edit: Also, there's another thing to mention... Speedruns of classic Sonic games can be a bit dumb because the time taken up by the game tallying the time bonus often makes it actually faster in the long run to play badly or just wait at the end of the level so you get a lower time bonus. For this reason, official Sonic speedruns go by in-game time of each levels (plus the time taken by deaths if there are any). I doubt these runs will be close enough for it to matter, but I figured I should mention it.

Edit again: Never mind, I don't think that applies to this one because you can skip the time bonus tallying.
