Whoa, Pac, calm down. *clears throat*
Despite getting pounded harder and harder with schoolwork and homework, my life has really gotten better in the past couple days! Speaking of that schoolwork, it was originally going to make me gone from vizzed all week, but I needed to take a breather and I decided to take that breather here, like I'm doing again now. *gasps for air*
There were 2 things that I've been dying for this whole school year, and they both didn't happen near as much as I wanted them to. Those things were opportunities to do community service with my classmates, and opportunities to improve myself socially with big steps. Both of those things are coming up more often now!
Yesterday I had an opportunity to improve my public speaking skills. The day before, my leadership class watched a video that told lessons about public speaking, such as knowing your audience and making eye contact with them.
The teacher gave us an assignment to come in the class with a joke the next day, and perform it well in front of the entire class. I'm pretty sure almost everyone got their jokes off the internet like I did (hopefully no one plagiarized though. I paraphrased it) At least most of them were good and funny jokes! Mine was good but not funny. No one laughed. Even I didn't laugh, probably because I was nervous. XD
Many other students went up in front of the room to tell jokes too. All of us did well. There were some issues of course, like me not even smiling for half the joke
When I was finished telling my joke, I walked to my seat and the teacher complimented me on my performance and the joke itself. It even had an opening line that I made up! ("So this joke will be graded, huh? It's gonna be an F for funny!")
Today, more students had opportunities to tell jokes. This time the teacher had a speaker and microphone prepared, and he acted like a typical comedy show host! XD A lot more students did, and my friend had a couple awesome ones! One of them made everyone go crazy and laugh. Probably because it was mean (school appropriate, though)
Also today, the teacher informed the class of 3 upcoming community service events that we students in that class can sign up to do! Two of them are in a week or 2, and one of them is on my birthday!!
One of them is a flag event, one of them is a 5 kilometer (my teacher said it's approximately 2.3 miles) run, but you don't have to run. You can walk or something. The teacher, me, and my friend were making jokes about what alternatives for that event. We made jokes about riding a tricycle, bicycle, unicycle, go-cart, golf cart, or bumper cars instead of walking or running. Lol it was way funnier than most of the jokes students told in front of the class! The other event is an event for the whole school. We're trying to get as many students as possible to stand around the school and area around it, to stretch a mile. We're going to smile and support the school! I signed up to do all 3! All 3 of them would be best for me to do, even the one on my birthday! The fact that it's on my birthday makes me even happier about it. I'd love to serve my community and school on my birthday, and I should anyway! That event being on my birthday makes me feel really blessed, and I know I am! Ever since a few days ago, I've been taking my life a lot more seriously (which I've almost always done, but not in all areas of life and not as much as I should) and I'm loving it a lot more too! I've been thinking, "This is the kind of life I was going to live a couple months ago (when I got baptized) in the first place! Now that I finally am, I'm loving it!" This new (and I'll make an effort to make it permanent) lifestyle of mine allows me to: -never be bored -realize I am truly important -realize that I can do just as much as most people around me socially, although I'm shy and maybe even awkward sometimes -realize that I am always loved, no matter what -be very motivated to push myself and try new things -realize how amazing my life and surroundings really are - be the best I can beNow I'm definitely very proud to be a Christian, and I thank God for everything!!
