The truly defining moment in my life would definitely be my marriage to my wonderful wife. Its also the most important thing that's happened in my life, too. If I wasn't married I would probably still be living with my parents, which would be really embarrassing for someone at my age. I am a perfect example of someone who thought there was nobody out there for them. If you think there's no one on this planet who could love you, then you're wrong and you're probably not looking hard enough.

There have been plenty of other important happenings, or in this case "truly defining moments," I have experienced in my life. My marriage is definitely the most important one, and it will more than likely be that way forever.

What is your truly defining moment?

Um....for me I think when I try and find something new to do. Like for instance jewellery making the beading part of it. That is really hard to do since I didn't have much experience on it. Tried to make one and failed so I thought maybe its not my thing to do. Until I kept on trying and pulled off the impossible again with myself considering that I have disabilities. Yeah that may be my defining moments. Being able to pull off the impossible while learning something new....or getting rewards on specific stuff which I will not name. If you want to know matty then pm me. ^-^

The day I was diagnosed a chronic disease more than 5 years ago. I was in a very deep and dark pit, in part for being a teenager in a difficult age, and in part for some health problems that never got away for like a whole year.

That moment really defined the way I act and behave nowadays and forever more. Since then, I've learnt to never cease to smile and move on, no matter the situation, there's always a good side and a solution for it.

It was also a pretty defining moment for me the day I logged in Vizzed and saw I was Site Staff. I almost lost hope that there was nobody who would appreciate good work over anything else, and that day I was proved wrong. Now I keep striving to make hard job my mark of identity, something very difficult considering my extremely lazy nature.

Eniitan : I will let you know if I remember...wondering what that "specific stuff" means XD

EX Palen : Its good to hear you're still with us after what you've experienced so far. I have been very blessed not to have any serious illnesses so far in my life. And congrats on being site staff. Maybe if I remember to put in an application since I've been way more active in the past year or so...hopefully I may get there one day too

Can I list a few defining moments, rather than one?

The moment that defined the rest of my life was the moment I repented of my sins and gave my life to God. There have been other important moments along the same lines, like being baptized or receiving the Holy Ghost, but they all came about as a result of that first prayer.

Another defining moment for me was when I became active on the Vizzed forums because I met some good people and began to realize that my "obsession" with Video Games and the Game industry itself was perfectly normal and healthy, and didn't make me weird or whatever. It gave me a place where I could talk about games and the game industry as much as I wanted and never feel awkward or be looked at funny for it. No one in my family is a hardcore gamer, and as such I've never had anyone to talk to about what interests me, but Vizzed changed that.

Finally, the moment I --with encouragement from GenesisJunkie-- officially began forming a game development team. I realized through being on Vizzed that everyone has one thing they're passionate about, and my passion was Video Games. I realized that I wanted a career in the game industry, and friends here helped me believe that I could do it and should go for it.

So now thanks to a few friends, I'm embarking on what I truly believe will be my career and path for the rest of my life. So joining Vizzed really helped shape the rest of my life in an extremely positive manner.

Cool thread here by the way.

Eirinn : And to everyone else who posts in here...if you want you can name more than one moment if you wish. I know there are some people out there who have had a lot of important things either happened or are happening in their lives. You may name a few if you think some events deserved to be mentioned.

I like your answers Eirinn

The first defining moment was probably that exchange trip I did back in 2003-2004. I lived for 9 months with 11 people and learned how to improve myself.

It helped me for the second defining moment of my life: meeting the man of my life. It was love at first sight! We went through some pretty rough moments (including many moving and the loss of my job), but we got through them

It depends on how you want to define 'defining moment.'

I'm going with three events that directed my life to where I am now.

1.  Parris Island.  I graduated boot camp and accepted the title Marine on Sept 22nd, 2000.  It was pre 9/11 and I went into the Marine Corps with the express purpose of blowing up things, getting dirty, and getting paid to do it.  What I experienced was exactly that.  I was a machine gunner in the infantry for years and I went over to the MPs.  I went to many continents, picked up some language skills, met all sorts of people, and experienced the entire spectrum of human emotion.  I joined a brother- and sisterhood whose bonds will never be broken.  The current career path I have happened because the guy I work for is an old Marine.  We knew some of the same folks and had been to the same places.  The Marines honed my warrior spirit and focused me to achieve anything I wanted.  It is a wonderful organization... and had fire support.

2.  I got married to a woman who is insanely attractive, has long legs, has a doctoral degree in physical therapy, loves watching sports and drinking, and follows a demanding fitness regimen.  She is as perfect as anyone can hope for.  Most of my friends comment that I'm playing up several leagues, which is garbage because I'm attractive, I'm smart, I'm kind and I'm driven to succeed.  We make a great team and life is so much easier because we're with each other.  Never a moment goes by when I don't think, "I hate being married."  I know she feels the same.

3.  My daughter was born 1/25 of last year.  I'm watching her feed herself banana/peanut butter english muffin as I type.  She has changed my life for good and for the better.  There is nothing cooler than watching this little human grow and develop physically, emotionally, intellectually, and I can watch her personality shine through.  My wife and I are laid back parents and we don't fight over how she should be raised.  We're on the same page.

I love my life.

warmaker : I'm right there with you.

I almost wanted to go into the Marine Corps when I was in high school. My junior and senior years, my ROTC class took a field trip to Parris Island. Long story short, I quickly realized that I wasn't ready for this yet so I changed my mind and decided not to go in.

I disagree with how perfect your wife is, because MY wife is the perfect woman any man could ever want. There is only ONE woman as perfect as she is, and that's her...so I think we're gonna have a problem with that XD jk She sounds awesome!

We'll never plan on having kids but if we do have one, it'd be cool if he/she acts just like the way your daughter does. And on top of all this, I have the perfect job too. I love my life as well, brother

If it has to be about love, when my third finance left me. Then I realized all this "you are not looking hard enough" is not true, at least for me.

Otherwise, I guess there are none. Or maybe one time. I guess when I was 12 and I was walking alone, I heard this music in my head. I realised, I would never be like the other people in my town. And I would be damned. It was dark and there was lots of snow. That I remember.

Brigand : I say "you are not looking hard enough" because I was one of those boys growing up that thought "man, I'm NEVER gonna get married." I thought that mostly because my parents verbally fought with each other a lot when I was little. Both of them told me never to get married, so I did. I thought that there wasn't anyone out there that could put up with my crap, but I was very very wrong.

The bottom line is if I can find a wife, then ANYONE should be able to. I'm a firm believer that there is someone out there for everyone. If you haven't found them yet, then you haven't started looking or you're not looking hard enough...is my point.

And for the record, your defining moment does NOT have to be about love...

MattyIce :
I am sorry. I guess I should I should have pointed out that even if I would have married, I would not have been any happier. Nor would have anyone else. Nor anyone will be whether they marry me or not. That kind of life aint just for me, I think. For me. In other peoples happiness, there is nothing wrong and I am all for it. But for me, those ships have sailed. There is nothing for me to give to anyone so it is pointless to ask anything from anyone else.

If there is defining moments in my life yet, they remain to be seen.

There is of course a few defining moments in my life and they are (and not really in any of order but kind of in order at the same time):

1.) 'Finding' anime: So anime is just like little Billy down the street he wasn't lost (GET THAT IN YOUR HEAD HES NOT LOST AND NO I DIDNT SEE HIM ON THE NIGHT HE DISAPERED STOP ASKING ME!!) he's just waiting and when I first watched anime and looked at all the shows I could watch I was like, wow that's a lot and it opened up a fun new world that I just kind of feel in love with and is now permanently part of my life just like video games.

2.) Realising I'm becoming an adult: When I realised I was only years (now its only A year) till I become an adult I also realised that I just cant wait and see what happens I also have to have plans for what happens I went from a summer of happy delusions to a school year of worry (and ill get back to you on how it feels to become an adult in like 12months!)

3.) realising I was adopted: I found this one out YEARS ago (maybe even a decade ago 0,o) I don't know HOW I do I just KNOW I did I know it changed how I looked at my 'parents' and I cant say much about it but I just know I don't see them the same way anymore.

4.) Understanding how important life is: It wasn't until I got older and saw something I really cant ensue anymore that made me understand just how important life is I no longer look at is as something to be waved around as a flag but something put in your special spot because life is why we are here it is the reason we have and can do what we want and so many people young and old don't get that without life we wouldn't be who we are and everyone has a right to it (which is why I find murders one of the most disgusting people alive)

So ya that's how some things has changed my life and what not hope you like and maybe some of these might change yours (highly doubt it though) And if you know anything about Jerry I mean............. Billy please call the Konami hotline.

4.) Returning to Vizzed.

Sure joining it in the first play was how Light Knight was created, but I think returning to it was a bigger deal, as that is when I did a lot more for the site. I was promoted to global, posts a lot, was chat mod, things like that.

If I hadn't returned, I would never have accomplished all the things here that I wanted to.

The most defining moment in my life is probably when I became a trusted member. I didn't think someone like me with disabilities could do it.
