Unlike the personality disorder test in this forum, the political compass test has much more objective questions. By answering them, you can find out where you stand on such issue as private property, your position on the role of government and how you see morals in society. Granted, the classification of famous people sometimes seems off - Obama is far too away from the left to my taste - but it is quite accurate for private people. Find it here: https://www.politicalcompass.org/

My results: Economic Left/Right: 5.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.95

Pretty accurate. To me government only has two main purposes: defense and justice.

I went into the test not particularly sure about where I stand, but it has given me a pretty definitive answer.

I stand in about the same place as Ghandi according to that website. I'm too muddled right now to make sense of it. I'll go back later and puzzle through it to understand, though I guess being near Ghandi is a good thing overall. *shrug*

This shouldn't come as a surprise... I consider myself a Right Wing guy. The government only needs to protect us from other Governments. They need to keep away from the Market Economy, and stay out of the home! (And schools.)

EideticMemory : Liberal scum! Intersting... I didn't expect the numbers to be that large. xD Also, negative numbers scare me

I got...
Economic Left/Right: 0.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.15

I think it's pretty accurate, tbh. I'm definitely more conservative morally than most people, but I'm more liberal in the sense that I don't think my religious views should be shoved down the throats of others. I think I should have freedom within the public school system to practice my beliefs, and learn in a classroom that doesn't exclude God, but I also believe that each person should be able to choose what they believe. imo, both sides of the argument should be taught from a neutral point of view, and students be allowed to take what they've heard and decide either way.

mrfe : I really love that view point! Both sides should be taught! Let the people decide what they believe! But, it isn't only religion that is like that, history could/ should be taught the same way!

But moderate is still not bad... hehe!

I got economic Left/Right: -3.63, Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.69

right in the middle ground of 2 sides...

Yunimori : Simple: you want people to pacifically live in a commune. Had you been in the second quadrant, that would have made you a communist, i.e. for the forced collectivization of the means of production

janus : Not so simple, because I generally believe communes are bad news, therefore that isn't accurate at all. Being peaceful, yes, that I agree with. I want peace, I wish people would stop being petty and that reasonable discourse would happen over throwing angry words and eventually weapons at each other. I live with too much of that  to want to keep seeing that the world over. But I don't believe communes are the right answer.

A properly run kibbutz style, maybe, but as the US defines communes...UM. NO. That has been proven to TYPICALLY (not all the time, I know) not work and can lead to some unhealthy situations, whether mentally or physically.

Yunimori : OK, maybe I didn't word that right (and I didn't have any hostile intent).

By commune - I'm not familiar with Kibbutz - I mean a self-sufficient entity that's usually pretty small. I wasn't thinking about the "hippie" communes where everyone was stoned.

Being in the 3rd quadrant as you are does indeed you believe in peace and individual rights; you just don't seem to believe private property of production is as important. Which seems to be what Gandhi believed in.
