The Kentucky Wildcats got out to a 38-0 start and made it all the way to the Final Four in the NCAA March Madness tournament but sadly, they fell short to the Wisconsin Badgers 71-64. The latter team goes on to face the Duke Blue Devils who defeated the Michigan St. Spartans to bring up a final showdown for the NCAA tournament. A shame that there won't be a perfect season this year but it was a good run nonetheless.

I saw that last night. I was very surprised when I found out that they lost. Well wow it would've been interesting to see them go undefeated, I'm glad they lost because my second chance bracket on espn is still perfect. I picked Wisconsin to win the championship.

Why is anyone sad?  I'm tired of basketball teams like Kentucky and Memphis loading up with McDonald All-Americans who'll play one year and go off to the NBA.  The teams like Wisconsin that foster a real team and keep kids three or four years and build something by developing their athletes are much more valuable to me than a bunch of one and done school programs like Kansas, Kansas State, Memphis, and Kentucky, to name a few.

I think the NBA product is better when players can develop more in the college level.  But now it's more important to get paid and I understand that so I can't complain too much.  But there aren't any rivalries like the old days.  NBA teams swap players all the time and it doesn't matter what school you went to because you don't know any of your opponents because you played 30 games or so in NCAA basketball.  I don't know anyone who can go from a high schooler to an NBA athlete with 35 games of experience but they do it.  Some freaks of nature can make the switch but most kids aren't good.

I'm more excited to see a talented, deep Wisconsin team take on a well-developed Duke.  There's good coaching on both sides and the kids are gamers.  It'll be a fun Monday night.

warmaker : I completely agree with you, Wisconsin seemed to put much more effort than Kentucky. I was rather surprised by this outcome. I thought Kentucky would kill Wisconsin 74-54 if Kentucky wins and 84-82 if Wisconsin wins. Still, both teams pulled off a game that would be remembered by both colleges. Great job Wisconsin!

Regardless, everything ended up all for naught anyway as Wisconsin would go on to lose to Duke in the Championship game. Coach K knows how to coach. He can coach in college and he can coach pros in the Olympics.

   I was both surprised and happy that Kentucky ended up losing. like warmaker said, these teams that are built to go just one year seems like a dirty way to go about it, and I'm glad they weren't able to do it. And basically anything else I would say, warmaker has already said it, and better than I could, so I'll just leave it at that.
   Also, I think enough time has passed that this thread isn't really needed, and considering this is already a relatively late post, I'm just going to close up the thread.
