When I'm saying hello in games and on this site I use "hello" plain and simple. When I say it in real life at work or to a friend I use Halla witch is really common here in Norway.

If it's someone I've known for a while or I think seems like a nice person I say Heyo which just before typing this post I realized is combining Hello and Hey after saying it a year, however if it's someone I don't know/like I say the generic Hi or Hello

Formal situations I'm more opted to use "Hello", as it holds a lot more decent respect.

If I was just chatting to my friends, I use "Hai", or "Hiya", I barely use my native language's greeting, (Welsh) "Helo". It just doesn't sound correct.

Regardless of whether I posted here or not, I'll answer it the way I currently say "hello."

It's either I say "hi" cheerfully with a smile, or I scream their name. On discord, I basically greet friends with capping their name and any random phrase I can come up with.

Unfortunately, my cheerful way of greeting is very misleading because I'm more on the shy and quiet side in person lol

I find the two-letter "hi" to be a bit awkward over text. Online, I'll opt for a more creative substitution, perhaps "howdy", "heya" or "salutations". In real life, it cycles between "hello, "ayy", and "howdy-do"

Yep, I'm intolerable.

I don't usually say hello... whenever I need to say something I kind of just say it first thing. If anything I'll say "hey" but immediately followed by what I came to say rather than waiting. I dunno, I guess I'm just not that formal? Doesn't really seem like a big deal to me though.

A nice update cause my original post is incredibly different and makes me want to commit seppuku.

I generally say "Yo." both in real life and in DM's, cause it's different and something that I've just trained myself to use.

I'm the kind of the person that will usually say hi-hi or heyhey if I'm pretty close to you or like you. If I don't know you that well or you're not like a close friend it's just hello or hi.

Well I still say Heyo like I said before in my previous post back a few years ago but I think anymore I say Heyo a lot more common to anyone instead of my previous only people I was close to rule. Something I didn't mention back then is for some reason I have a habit of if someone calls my phone I'll answer with "Yellow?" I have not idea why I started saying yellow answering a phone or why I continue to.

I tend to say Howdy when I enter a chat for some reason. I'm not a cowboy or anything but I don't see many other people do it so it is kind of unique. It makes no sense though.

I say Howdy way too much. It's funny. My manager chuckled and laughed back at me today. She must have been in a good mood, cause she's usually an unpleasant person towards me since I just moved to the PNW from the South.
