So I now have Browser Shop ads on my computer. It's basically a virus that spams your web browser with ads. It is only affecting Google Chrome for some reason, which is weird. I am using Firefox now without a problem. Anyone know how to get rid of it? Please don't just give me a link to a website unless you know for a fact that it works. I have tried multiple different online instructions and none have worked.

There's a good chance that the virus added an extension to Chrome. Try this out. Go to the browser menu, and go to settings. On the left, you will should see three options being history, extensions, and settings. Click on the extensions one, which should bring up a menu where you can see all the extensions. Usually it's pretty easy to find the one that you didn't download, and you can click on the garbage can icon to delete it. This was a problem I had a few times, so try to see if that works for you.

patar4097 : I tried that. There's nothing there. The only extensions I have are Adblock Plus, Google Cast (for my Chromecast), Google Docs, and Proofread Bot Grammar and Style Checker.

tgags123 : I think I had the same fate happen to me before, is it where it will highlight a random word in the text and if you go anywhere near that word, it will give you a weird advertisement pop-up box (mostly inappropriate ads), if not that, but even appropriate ads.

If that's it, I don't think there is a way to remove the virus that added an irremovable extension that makes you see these ads appear in words.
The only way I can tell you is to fully uninstall (remove everything) and re-install Chrome.

Hit your computer with a hammer 50,000,000 times.

This happened to me on IE, try just uninstalling and reinstalling the browser.

It could probably be not a virus but something that is classified as a malware, those don't specifically do things as bad as viruses, but they do extract some information for marketing purposes, I can almost assure you that they were installed after you downloaded a software, many of them come with a malware included which you choose as the "default" install, which is why many experienced internet roamers always reccomend putting the custom installs which allow you to choose to not install such software. But nowadays many companies have become greedy and they install malware without telling you. Normally is harmless but it slows your computer so that would be the only damage that it causes as well as being annoying. Try uninstalling any programs that you don't remember installing and if you can checking your task manager to find the source of any services that are running that you haven't seen before. (if you suspect the services is run by the system don't terminate unless you know what you are doing). Hope this helped give you some insight. If not just get an anti-malware.
