I mentioned this a little in my poll thread in this forum about youth groups. Last Friday, I went on a winter retreat with my youth group that I'm pretty new to! It was 2 nights long and we all left on Sunday morning. Even though I started to give my life to Christ more in January, the retreat changed my life a lot!
We had a lot of worship time, we had sessions where we broke into groups and listened to our leaders preach, took notes, had discussion, and asked questions!
It wasn't entirely good because many people weren't behaving well at times, but I didn't let that bother me!
For example, on Friday night, we were in our cabins having free time after worshiping and having break-out sessions, My cabin room was waiting for our pizza to arrive. An hour after our pizza was supposed to arrive, we got tired of waiting and decided to see if something went wrong. It turns out one other room in our cabin was hogging pizza! They had like 10 boxes of it, one per person! XD
One guy that was in that room decided to take some of the pizza to our room, so we got 2 boxes. By the time we were finally able to eat the pizza, it was almost cold! We enjoyed it anyway.
There was one guy named Marcus (I can guarantee you it wasn't marcus047, aka Divine Aurora. XD) who kept being a klutz and people were making fun of him and laughing at him for it. I had the best insult of all, but I didn't say it. I spared him the humiliation of being called Marklutz.
It was often a little difficult to be as nice as possible when everyone around me wasn't, but I knew God wouldn't want me to be like the others, so I pulled it off!
Everyone in my cabin was able to have plenty of exercise since we had to walk a half-mile to one building, and after what we did in there was over, we had to walk a half-mile back to our cabin. We did that multiple times a day. We also had 4 and a half hours of free time in the gym. I was trying to be active the whole time, and after I got home the next day and started resting, I felt pain practically everywhere. XD Multiple times on Saturday and once on Friday, (like I said before) we worshiped, had break-out sessions, and we had plenty of free time in our cabins. On Saturday night we played dodgeball XD It was sad that almost everyone got hit more if they were in the bleachers, than if they were in the game. I should've played more than I did! It was a very amazing experience! I got to connect with God more than ever before (even my baptism), I learned quite a bit of useful information about what to do for God and what to think about to use daily throughout my life, I learned about other religions, and I made some friends! I told my friend about the retreat and we agreed that next time I'd invite her (and possibly other friends) so next time I go on a retreat it might be even better!
