I've never eaten an American pancake, just british/dutch pancakes. I hate them, they really, really suck. The american Pancakes don't look a lot better, either.

I really like waffles for the fact that you can pour the syrup into the little holes and have it sit there instead of dripping off, but I like pancakes a whole lot more than waffles. In my opinions, pancakes taste so much better, even when they dont have anything on and the texture and fluffiness of pancakes is so much better than waffles.

I am biased to say waffles. For years we only had pancakes to make; waffles were store-bought. Once we got a waffle maker for Christmas back in 2013 it was glorious. Belgium style is the best.

I would usually go for neither, but given an absolute two choices I would go for pancakes, They are much easier to make, you can stuff them better and they come in so many more varieties compared to waffles. I've never liked those square holes anyway.

Pancakes, for the simple reason that I can also use them for impromptu sandwiches instead of syrup. Good for lunch when I know I'm not going to get any supper, because then I'm full longer on the days I can eat.

I do like waffles, though, but without syrup. Just plain and toasted, otherwise things start tasting odd.

I always prefered waffles cause it's easier to make and I like to make mine nicely toasted to a crisp, with some butter on top and sliced bananas spreaded around. Oh and the syrup for the finishing touch. If there isn't any bananas to use I don't mind using strawberries instead.
I still like pancakes regardless of how much I eat waffles though. Both are pretty delicious.
