The first Zelda I ever beat was Link's Awakening DX. Even as a kid, I felt like it wasn't to difficult to handle. For that reason, I'd have to say Link's Awakening DX would be the best Zelda game to start with. There are better games in the series though such as Ocarina of Time.

Zlinqx : A Zelda game available in the Retro Game Room but it's not Ocarina of Time, huh? Hmm... I think you should try Majora's Mask, the sequel of OOT. Trust me, you'll find it much better with its story, gameplay, mask system, and with its 3 day Cycle. You should also try Minish Cap, it's also a fun game.

I agree with earlier posts in saying that I think that Minish Cap may be your best bet at a first game. Windwaker would be a good one too, but it all depends on whether you want to try a game with a smaller map or one with a larger map and more places to go. I personally started with Phantom Hourglass (not knowing about the other games ). I don't think that Phantom Hourglass would be a good starter game, as it can get VERY repetitive and annoying, but in the end, it's your choice.

I would recommend Wind Waker. Wind Waker and Zelda 1 are the only ones I've played, and Wind Waker is more beginner friendly. There's also tons of things to do, such as Leaf Gliding, Picture Taking, and Sailing and finding new islands.

Wind Waker. It's not hear tearingly difficult but still has a good challenge, isn't too long, has a great story, beautiful graphics, beautiful everything. Do yourself a favor and play Wind Waker.

Zlinqx : "A Link to the Past" is here on vizzed and is the best Zelda game in my opinion ever to be made. Great design great story, awesome puzzles and unlike Ocarina of time, there isn't some crazy cracked fairy telling you to listen or stopping mid gameplay to tell you something you already know every 2 minutes lol. Lttp can get hard though, so be ready for some frustration. That was my first Zelda game and one of my first games i ever played. Did anyone else get this game when they were little and play it like a thousand times? Cause I shore did... lol i could prolly beat this game with a blindfold on I've played it so many times

If your looking for a easy access game that is on vizzed than defiantly shoot for A link to the past. But outside of that a great entry point would be sky ward sword. I say this because its a fantastic game and it starts off the LoZ time line making it a great entry point.

Even though I did start with Ocarina of Time 3d, there is two other games that I could recommend for someone who wanted to start out in the
Zelda Franchise. After I played Ocarina of Time 3d, I actually got Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD. This title is around the same as the original title on Game cube in 2002, but it is way more updated to where it is not as much of a hassle as the first version (updated with things like the fast sail and less triforce charts).I also would honestly recommend A Link Between Worlds because that one is bright colorful and gives you a lot to do and explore with more freedom than some Zelda games.

I actually ended up playing a bit of A link between worlds, and so far I'm enjoying it, I do seem to prefer the 2D zelda games so that's probably part of the reason why but also because I like a lot of the changes they made and it did fix a lot of problems other Zelda games both 2D and 3D for me, so eventually I'm probably going to buy the full game.

I'm still a bit hesitant about Majora's Mask but it really does seem interesting, so I might end up giving it a shot later on, probably not in the near future though.

I'm glad you find yourself enjoying a Link Between Worlds. It actually looks like a lot of fun with the painting mechanic.
Honestly I did a bit of research (aka, watched a random playthrough of both versions of Majora's Mask), and I would definitely say MM3D is the better version if you're willing to spend the cash. It is a bit more streamlined than it's N64 counterpart, but not in a terrible way (I think). You're able to save more freely and some sidequests are fleshed out much better. Zora Link and Deku Link do control a bit differently (Zora can no longer swim super fast without magic and Deku Link has a couple momentum differences). I definitely think trying it yourself a little bit on Vizzed first may be wise if you're really hesitant though.

If you tried OoT and didn't care for it, perhaps you'd like to look into a 2D top-down Zelda. A Link To The Past is a great one, and the Gameboy Color titles (Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons, Link's Awakening) are all fantastic too.

(Just use a guide for the trade sequence. You'll know what I mean when you get there.)

I would start with the Minish Cap. It has a good pace and the plot is very interesting. It is for the GBA and has great game play. I actually beat in RGR. It is also light hearted so it is easy to get into.

I think A Link to the Past is the best game to start with. The story is pretty easy to follow (unlike the first 2 NES versions which were confusing until you knew what you were doing) and the game is super fun. I've replayed it at least 5 or 6 times for sure.

I've never played any of the later Zelda games from the N64 or other consoles (except Gameboy) so this is my recommendation. It's a great game.

A Link to the Past is my personal favorite game in the series and the one that I usually recommend to people the most. Also the new "A Link Between Worlds" for the 3DS is a great direct sequel to a Link to the Past. Very cool how they tied everything together. Both are very solid games.

I would suggest A Link to the Past; especially since you liked Link Between Worlds so much. It's the lesser known universally loved Zelda game. Outside that...Maybe Wind Waker if you get your hands on it one day? Also probably Twilight Princess. But most important is Link to the Past!
