Marvel made an announcement earlier that Sony and Marvel Studios agreed on a deal that Marvel Studios will be making the next Spider-Man movie while Sony continues to be in creative control. For those of you who are not familiar, Spider-Man was bought by Sony Pictures to own the rights and that's why Marvel can't make those movies, but this is HUGE news because now Spider-Man is able to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, meaning the future Avengers movie, and possibly some appearances in Marvel movies in the future. I'm VERY excited about this and I am *hoping* that Spider-Man will be in time to be part of "Captain America: Civil War" because Spider-Man was definitely a big part of that conflict in the comic book story line.

The consequence of this is that 4 movies will be pushed back on their release date, but these are all from Marvel Phase 3 (Black Panther, Thor Ragnarok, Captain Marvel, Inhumans) so they are not an immediate effect. Another thing is that Andrew Garfield has already made it known that he will not come back as the role of Spider-Man, so they will need to find a different actor for it. (Kinda like a Ben Affleck to be Batman type of thing), which is totally fine. They don't need to make an origin story since that's been done twice already.

I saw some jokes about this on twitter last night so I know a bit about what's going on but I didn't know about him leaving though. I really think that they can do a great job with spider man from now on and possibly make some main movies better.

Good thing that Grafield dude wont act as Spidey anymore, didn't like himat all. And Spider-man is my number 1 hero from the Marvel Comics so this is a great news!

I'm a huge Spider-Man fan, but not when they keep changing actors for the role.  Why can't one dude commit to a character.  It just makes the character that more "authentic".  A great example is Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.  He played the role now for years and he made that character his own.  I read yesterday (?) that Spider-Man will only just have a cameo in the next Captain America, but it's still a while to go so we'll see.  Any rumours then who will be the next Spider-Man?

play4fun : WHat actors do you feel would have the best shot at being the new Spider-man? Or which ones would you most want to see?

zanderlex :  I'm not at all into the Hollywood scene, but if there's two actors that I would pick (that's still young enough) for the Amazing Spider-Man, it's Zac Efron (Seventeen again) or (you're probably going to laugh) Shia LaBeouf.  Why?!  For starters, they both can act and they both can effortlessly pull off a geeky look and attitude and be the serious superhero type at the same time.  The other reason is that I don't know any other young Hollywood actors  Oh yeah.  The other reason is their physique.  We all know Zac Efron is good to go and Shia is thin enough to fit into the Spidey suit since Spider-Man is thin, but muscular.  So if Shia works on his six pack a bit then he's golden.

SoL@R : Oooh, I forgot about Zac Effron, he would be pretty good. Did they say anything about whether the series will start over or if they will just contine after Amazing Spiderman 2?

zanderlex :  As far as I know they will just continue the story since the "origins" of Spidey has already been dealt with so no need to revisit that again.

SoL@R : I personally think that if they're going to continue it, they might want to start off with sombody who's just a bit older. I would love to see Jake gyllenhaal.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! I've been waiting for this for so long. Spider-Man, aside from Captain America, is probably my favorite superhero in the Marvel universe, if not period. More exposure for Spidey (and a good role!) will make me a very happy camper.

zanderlex : Don't think that's gonna happen. They already approached him about the Suicide squad (DC) but he said he doesn't want to be associated with anything like that. One can only assume that means superhero flicks in general, but then again, maybe not.

Tobey Maguire: Perfect peter parker, terrible, unfunny spider-man. He also hated the series and said he had NEVER read the comics.
Andrew Garfield: Terrible Peter Parker, excellent funny spider-man. He loved the series and said he had read it his entire childhood and always wanted to be spider-man.

Given the circumstances, I'd say I prefer Andrew over Tobey.
