This month's High Score competition is for 'Galaga' for the Nintendo NES. You can play it here:

The point of this competition is to get as high of a score as you can.


VIDEO REQUIRED: You must must use the RGR Plugin's built in video recording to record the gameplay and then upload that video to the Vizzed YouTube account.

RULES: You MUST play the game using the RGR Plugin in 'Timetrial Mode' and take a screenshot of your top score from that by pressing F6. To play in 'Timetrial Mode', scroll down the page where the highscores would appear, you'll see a link that says 'Click Here to Compete for Highscore', click that. Once you've taken your screenshot, click the link near that one that says 'Click Here to Submit your Score' to submit your score.

You cannot unfairly get points or lives or use a glitch of any sort. If you find something that gives out unlimited points or lives, it will not count.

1st = 25,000 Viz
2nd = 10,000 Viz
3rd = 5,000 Viz

Just an FYI: The announcement page says this is a speed run competition. Might wanna change that.

Is there a limit to the number of times we can try or videos we can post?

Davideo7 : Can we only use the built in recorder or can we use our own?

The reason behind me asking this is because whenever I use the built in recorder it slightly freezes my game play, almost like the FPS decreases a little. Also, the resolution of the video is a little blurry when it is uploaded and I think it would be better to use my own recorder so that it looks good. Just a thought

eclipse9508 : There's no limit to tries or videos submitted. Just overwrite your previous score and submit the accompanying video if you beat your old best.

My best recorded score so far is around 80,000. Hope to get over 100,00

Shame it's such a nuisance for me to upload video's from here, really, otherwise, I'd be on this like the boss I used to be. Good luck to all that participate, hopefully ,one of these days, there'll be a high-score run that just requires a screenshot.

A strategy I've come up with involves using the emulator buttons (Reset, Pause, Close) as sort of reference points for where the enemies are going to spawn or where they are going to be in order to concentrate my fire there. I have a similar strategy for the arcade version but use the joystick as the reference point instead. This is particularly useful for the bonus rounds because they don't shoot back so you can hold your ideal positions. Also, you can double up your fire power by freeing one of your captured fighters but this is sacrificing defense for offense so beware. You'll need to strafe quickly and frequently with the double fighter technique.
