Hey all. I am not a huge manga reader but there are some that have gotten my attention enough to read. I'm not gonna ask what your favorites or least favorites are. Instead I'd like to know what made you read your first manga and if you can remember what was the title ? If ya' feel like it tell us a bit about it for those who may not know it.

Brain-Splattered : Yey a manga thread! My first Manga would be Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days I read it cause I have always enjoyed video games and anime and a few I have played/watched had to do with Manga so I thought I might as well try it and I loved it.

Brain-Splattered : Well technically speaking, the first manga i read was some random volume of Naruto. But i was to young to realize that manga was actually its own little art form, and i barely remember anything about it.However, the first manga i truly read and truly understood was Soul Eater volume 1.

Still have the old thing in my collection,to bad the pages are really yellow and old now...

Well as I said in the start of my post I am not a huge reader of manga but I have read some. My first one was actually one that a friend of mine brought to my house when we all got together for a Shadowrun ( pen & paper ) game session. I saw it sitting piled up with his stuff and the Japanese writing on it. I asked him what it was and he said manga. I must have looked at him like he had grown a second head cuz then he said it was like a comic. He grabbed it and handed it to me. Showed me how to read it and let me have it to read, saying he had another copy of it at home. So my first manga turned out to be : Basara.
For those who may not know the manga I will say it was pretty good and got me to hunt out a few more I have read. The plot of it was kind of a cliché cuz I've seen it done in a lot of comics, movies, and animes. With that being said, I still liked it. It was about a girl named Sarasa. She grew up knowing that her twin brother Tatara was prophesied to be the "boy of destiny," the one who would overthrow the oppressive government and unite the people of Japan. When Tatara dies in battle, however, Sarasa realizes that it's up to her to secretly take on her brother's identity and make the prophecy come true. On the way, Sarasa meets and falls in love with the mysterious Shuri. Together, she and her group of ragtag fighters journey across the land, attacking the many rulers and hoping to someday reach the leader of them all, the Red King.
Later on I found that a anime was made of it as well. I watched the anime and liked it too. Well there yeah go for me and my first manga. If you've never read it then check it out. It's worth the read. Pz out all.

My first manga is a pokemon manga, I didn't read more then one chapter, though. But my real first manga was dragon ball, I love it, especially the first part when Goku was a child.

The first manga I ever read was actually The Legend of Zelda manga series. Does this count? I truly do not know if this counts as a manga or not, but I love it. I also have obtained the first 4 volumes of the Pokemon Adventures manga for Christmas 2014. I've only read up to half of volume 2, but It's still really entertaining.

I remember the first manga that I read was Golden Time, and it was because I had finished all the Golden Time anime episodes (that were out) and I thought "Maybe the Manga will be ahead" since I had read that usually mangas come before animes and that the process for making a manga is much easier. I also read that mangas are usually a lot more detailed so I thought why not since I have always been a  person that appreciates little details. To my surprise it was, I found myself re-living the whole thrill of the story once again, however, sadly the manga ended up being more behind than the anime. Later i found out that light novels could come even before manga and anime and they were more detailed than both. Knowing me... well I ended up reading the light novel, no regrets what so ever, but I still reading manga better than anime and light novels since it gives me a quick way of reading a story while still getting some details and the visuals, and it is the quickest of them all. Now I am an avid manga reader and I also have my app for reading mangas and I buy manga whenever I can in order to support my favorite authors. If you ever have a question for a manga suggestion I can give you one because I read all genres.
