The new Steam Broadcaster is no longer in beta mode and does not require you to opt into the program and as of this week, the program is regularly available to all Steam users.

Who here has already opted into the program and used the program or plans on using it in the future? I only used it once or twice so far and i'm pretty ok with it.

I've used it twice so far, but the internet is so slow on the computer we have Steam on (at least where it's situated right now), that it isn't really going to work out unless a miracle happens. Whatever happens, I'm OK with it. But I would like sometime in the future for my friends to be able to see what I'm playing.

supernerd117 : Those couple of times you tried it, did anybody watch you? And did you do this with the full one or when it was during beta?

zanderlex : I did this with the full one. I don't remember who watched me the first time, but DarthYoda watched me the second time and experienced serious issues.

supernerd117 : He watched you? That traitor, he never watched me. Nobody watched any of my streams there aside for me, I really need to work on some stuff next time I do this.

zanderlex : If you're ever playing your favorite work of your own (yup, that one) or something I could agree with in Audiosurf, I'd love to check it out (if internet allows ). But I guess I really haven't checked out others because I'm not too fond of people just dropping in. It can get really awkward sometimes. The first time, I had planned to stop playing soon, but felt compelled to play a little longer because the dude took the time to drop in (I appreciate it now!). The second time was mainly awkward because of the lag, and I had to leave the computer for a while in the hands of my brother (that said, he still played the same game). I guess you might not feel awkward, so I wouldn't feel so bad dropping in, if it's all right with you. I'm not on Steam as much anymore, and sometimes people leave the computer running when I'm not there, but if I'm able, I'll join in if you're playing.

supernerd117 : Audiosurf is such a fun game, and that's the kind of game that I would definitely stream there. I kind of think I can't really record or stream on twitch foe Audiosurf mostly because of copyrights on some songs, but I'm guessing that this just maybe could be a bit different. The same goes for Unturned, but for different reasons obviously. I have recorded it, but for streaming, it would probably be much better to do it straight from Steam.

The quality could probably be a lot better to since you're really bypassing a third party streaming software like OBS, which though it did work well, all the extra software running at the same time caused the game to slow and the videos to be terrible at times.

I've been participating in betas for the past few weeks now, and so I was aware of the livestreaming feature as of a couple weeks ago. I haven't had anyone watch me yet, nor have I been able to watch anyone, but I really like the idea. There's no way it'll become more popular than twitch or hitbox though.

So far, although the idea is awesome, no one can hold their stream up long enough for it to work effectively. I've tried with three people, sonicmcmuffin, didn't work, earthwarrior, samething, and supernerd117, also failed...

darthyoda : I tried on the broadcasting end and it doesn't seem to work. I had some of my streams up for an hour or more but sometimes it would break.
