So... When I'm playing a multiplayer game (Minecraft) I play by a sort of... code. I guess. I don't steal other people things, I don't attack people for no reason, I don't cheat people, etc. So, do you guys do the same thing? I kind of feel like, by now, there's an understanding between gamers, some what of a trust. A trust that the people around you won't screw you over. Of course, there are exceptions, just like anything, but for the most part, is there a moral standard for video games?

inWe'll with me for games for like the play station 4 and xbox360 or xboxone platforms I tend to play the games on them all the way through until I get every achievement for each game (I hope that counts as a code lol) but for games like Pokemon my game code would be 1.) never lose a battle period, 2.)raise a well balanced team consisting of a water type, grass type, fire type, dragon type, ice type or electric type or psychic type. 3.) don't use any legendary pokemon period including at the elite four and 4.) no cheats and complete the pokedex in each game.

I've got a very non-restricting one, I don't use cheats, glitches or hacks unless every one in the current game/lobby/session knows about/can use the given cheats glitches or hacks. Or in other words, I don't use cheats or hacks online, and no glitches most of the time.

Definitely. I play very few multiplayer games online, but when I do I always try to play fair. I never use any kind of glitches, hacks or anything like that. If someone on the team is struggling, I try to help them out. I find that the games are a lot more fun when people are just having fun and not acting like it's some serious life or death competition.

Hello People.
Hello "Super Mega Man 568".

Back in the "Coin-Op" days?

Yes, there was a code.
(I have no better word for it.)

This practice revolved around "Street Fighter" and "Mortal Kombat" fighting games.

When a Player Played against a younger person?
Quite often the older person lost by default. (Not obviously. Just by default.)

Every now an again there would be a type of person that is so "In the Zone" that they never look to who is pressing start.
(Not often.)
When those guys took apart a younger player?
Typically a better player would step up and put their quarter in and put a stop to the nonsense.
(The "Zoned" dude is defeated.)
Then the kid was offered to finnish the game.
(Normally it only took about five or so minutes. Or the kids parent called them to leave.)

I have no idea why this happened.
It just was a thing.
I am certain there would have been more odd traditions if "Coin-Op" did not die.

Thank you For the chance to drop some history.
Good Luck On Your Next Project.

Good Luck To All.
Peace.

I follow a simillar code (no stealing from other players, no unprovoked attacks, etc).

As for the gamer community as a whole, it's too diverse to say yes or no. Usually different crowds play different games. In general though I think the majority of people in MMO settings play by principles simillar to those they live by (nice people act nice in game typically, and jerks are usually jerks in game).

Then I do think games are taken too seriously in most MMO communities. If someone does attack you, fight back and enjoy it; it's a game. Too many people actually form grudges and take serious offense to it. I know because I used to be one of those people. lol Life's stressful enough without stressing over our video games as well.

Eirinn : I agree. Jerks will always be jerks, and nice people will always be nice. And, I don't think games alone will change a persons personality.

I agree for the most part as far as being attacked. But, I do form minor grudges. MINOR grudges. And it's not that the people attacked me, it's more the way they act. And even my grudges can be filed as rivalries. If you line up two guys, and one of them I don't like or have had bad experiences with, obviously I'll attack my enemy. But I don't alter my life to kill one guy in a video game. Like you said, it's a game.

I usually play a game thoroughly and not try to leave anything out because I'm weird I guess
but usually I like to try and find all the Easter eggs in the game.

But I'm with you Super Mega Man I don't like to use hacks or mods cause I believe it just ruins the purity of
the game, unlike others that do it because it's fun, I just don't like to, I'm an odd ball and glad to be one.

Borax : I think hacking takes all of the fun out to be honest. What's the fun in something if there's no challenge to it? I don't like hacking or using cheats (Unless I'm just messing around fer teh lulz) because there isn't any fun in it. If you know you're going to win a fight, why even fight? Plus, in multiplayer, hacks are for people that can't play the game, and I'm have this strange thing about showing everyone else up. XD Anyway.. yeah, hacks are for noobs.

My personal view on this and the way I have always held myself in gaming is that I do not use any cheats, glitches or hacks. I prefer to play the game straight up and honestly ... the way the game should be played. I think it takes away from the enjoyment and personal fulfillment of a game if you do not play it all the way through without those things. That being said you always hear or see people talking about those things in games and forums. If they can't get anywhere on the game then I can see someone lowering themselves to use them and I do say lowering because of my view on the matter stated above. I think they are a waste of time and make the games to easy. Not to mention it is too easy to abuse them. For gaming communities online ... well it's been my experience that for the most part people could care less what others think of what they do and just run rough-shod with the cheats, glitches, and hacks. For any person of a kind nature they would indeed follow a moral and accepted code of conduct in the gaming community. Too often tho you see those who do not care ( whether that is due to stupidity on their part or they are too young to care what they do ) and just try to be the best no matter the cost. So yeah I'm saying that there is a moral code but you'll find most will ignore it for personal gains.

This is just a example from a game I used to play a lot online for the playstation 3 not too long ago. Me and many friends used to play. M.A.G., which is a first person shooter. On the maps we would see kids constantly using glitches and hacks/mods to do great in their over-all stats. If you complained or brought it up to them in game chat they would always respond with a variety of rude answers along the lines of : " Why not ? Everyone else does it. " or  " Why do you care ? It's just a stupid game. " or " If it's in the game then it's fair game to use. ". Many more such responses but you get the drift of what I'm saying. We used to piss those kinds of players off because we would forget about the game itself and try our best to make them not want to use those glitches or cheats by ganging up on them and killing them until they grew frustrated enough to stop trying while we were in game or till they quit playing.

I know in a way that was mean of us but we were all of the same mindset that you should leave the cheats, glitches, and other such nonsense out of any game you play where there is a community of gamers and not just yourself playing. For the most part this has held true for many other online games I have played as well such as : World of Warcraft, Unreal Tournament, Everquest, Tera, Runescape, Asda, Destiny online, Shaiya, Knight Online World, Scions of Fate, and many others I have tried.

Brain-Splattered : Me and my friends target hackers, too. I just can't stand hackers. If you're playing in a private lobby, say with your friends/family, than I couldn't care less whether or not you hack. In single player I couldn't care less whether or nor someone hacks, even though I don't use it and think it's stupid, it's a free country. But when you get on a public domain and hack, glitch, or mod, then you've broken all moral code you could possibly have.

Super Mega Man 568 : Yeah "for teh lulz" I do it too but the only game I've used cheats on is the GTA franchise because, honestly who doesn't, that game is made for cheats. Although the cheats for GTA got really bland in the newer ones. I just remember GTA San andreas when there was the flying car cheat. xD that was always fun. I wish they would've implemented some more cheats in GTA 5. But that's the only game I use cheats for, just my one acceptation

But there is one game I'll warn you and anyone reading. Do Not Play Wolfteam, if you hate hackers they are everywhere and the hacks just aren't anything simple either they can instantly spawn where you are and head shot you and turn invisible, they can use observer (where you spectate people) and kill you its just crazy there and the staff does nothing to stop it. That or they have 3 year olds trying to make a anti-hacking program, that's just one of the games that drive me crazy. It's really not bad it would be good aside from the hackers literally everywhere.

I hope that isn't like advertising or anything, if some way it is I'll edit it. :o

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
