Ok I am going to try to keep this simple and see where it goes. Internet drives our world in many ways and has become a big part of most people lives. It can be used for evil or good depending on the user . I'll come in and answer this myself later. I'm interested to hear what you have to say on this. So here's my question : Do you think we would be better off or worse off as a society and individuals without internet or with it ?

I think it society is better with it. Sure, we may be lazy because of it, but things are made so much easier because of it. Maintaining records for companies, selling your product, etc.

Probably better. While there are some drawbacks to having the internet, the positives make up for it, and probably more.

The advantages a scociety should not dictate whether the scociety is good or evil or not. Ultimately it's how you use them.

Sometimes advantages encourage people to be lazy. And that's the danger. A strong scociety must teach it's children to not take these advantages lightly, or else it will fail. Sadly, I think that's already happened. :/

I think. . . . that it's not much different. We'd be a bit better off without it. Morally, but that's it. However, even ancient kingdoms allowed great evils. Whether technology is bad or not isn't really the question to me.

It's how we use it.

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . .

I am on the fence about this one and I took a long time to think about it before I posted it. This was actually a question that was asked of me a few years ago by a friend of mines' kid who was twelve at the time. I know pretty deep thinker he has there. Anyways at the time I told him there was too many benefits to the world having the internet available. Now tho I see it a different way and would have to say many people are just addicted to the internet. They can’t stop browsing, they are hooked on gaming, chatting online, and they spend too much time indoors. Instead of going out for a walk or play outside, they sit behind their computers for hours. A sad consequence of the addiction is that they are so used to high speed information by just clicking on the next link that they can no longer appreciate a good book, or a nice conversation with a friend. Also some suffer in the extreme by failing to exercise they grow fat and unhealthy. Their family life suffers and their only relationships are online – they can’t cope in the real world. Not saying everyone is like that but the problem is there for anyone to see. I see it as a 50-50 issue and there is no right answer to this. I still think the world is better off with it than without it but I keep leaning toward without it quite often over the last few years. Kind of stupid of me considering I am one of those that loves to get online to game, site surf, and watch anime online.

I think we're better off with internet. This is coming from someone who's been a very active member of Vizzed for over 2 years, so I think I have a lot of knowledge on this topic. Sure, internet is making people lazier, more impatient, and more negative characteristics, but I'm pretty sure the positives of it outweigh the negatives.

It's easier to find information with internet. Easy information finding is crucial for school, and the internet makes that possible. I think students do better on essays now on average than they did when internet didn't exist.

It can be fantastic for business. People can buy things off the internet and they can make money by running websites (like Davideo7 is with Vizzed, thanks to many generous donators).

It can make many people's lives easier, more fun, and more meaningful. Many Vizzed users have said that they haven't had much they wanted to do in their life until they came on Vizzed.

I used Vizzed as an example as much as I could, but I'm still talking about the internet in general. Many different types of websites can make people feel the same way.

In 2015 we are more dependent on Internet web bases than ever before, we've built our own society and without it we wouldn't be
the same. Just think of Vizzed as an example.. without the Internet wouldn't have came this great site. And how much it
brings people together, another thing about the internet is that it also has established a great connection with people. Yes,
it has it's downsides just like anything else, but there are more Pros than Cons lol. So all in all the internet has been good to
the society

Also I'm sorry if I've said anything that someone else has said i didn't read in Advanced just replied Dx

I know I have seen a lot of old farts that said that the world was a whole lot better off without technology interfering with society's lives. That really isn't true at all. Without internet, the world wouldn't be in the shape it is in, especially when it comes to research.

Sure, the activity has declined which is an understatement, but note, it's all not bad those and that is why to my point of view why some of the media bad-mouths about video gaming and internet because people ain't working out. And note, that is only a selective few though so they really need to chill out with that and all those promotions for kids and teens to go outside and work out which I think personally is a bunch of you know what (Like the NFL Play60, and a bunch of other things). They need to realized that nothing has much changed since the internet for the personall computer debuted in the early to mid 1990's.

I even watched a video on what Machinima uploaded about Saturday Morning Cartoons being over. And one segment I seen and heard about parents always complain because "Television was raising their kids" and that is 100% false, who in the world think an inanimate object would raise a human being, don't make sense. That's how I also feel about video games and the internet. Just chill out with that.

Sure, I know child obesity is a problem, but they view it as being the internet and video game's fault for making their kids fat and not exercising, so that's why they made those stupid promotion advertisements of stopping kids and teens from playing video games and being on the internet and go outside for once.

So, after all that mumbo jumbo above. Do I think we are better off with or without internet. We are better off with having internet. Because little does people know, without internet, things would of spiraled out of control, they wouldn't even be a planet Earth anymore. That's mostly my 2 cents on this discussion.

Well I see for the most part everyone opinions agrees the world is better off with the internet than without it. Good to hear everyone agrees. Yeah the internet can have it's good points and it's nightmare points. I'm glad we have the internet but there are times when I see it has taken over common sense and just becomes a problem. Those issues could happen with anything you wanna debate tho.
@ SonicFan22 I totally agree with you about not having Vizzed. We'd have to figure something else out to do which probably would not be as fun.

Brain-Splattered :
Without.

No Question about it.
(In My Opinion. ....Why do I type that?)

We never Needed Such a Device Before.
I see no reason why people can not do without it.

The Cool part about the internet is the News.
You find out more facts and you need less deductive reasoning to decipher What the News On T.V. Or The Paper is all about.

"Back In The Day"...

I Used To Get Most Of my News Deciphered From a Retired Cop who worked in a book store and a couple of Military "Vets" who played chess in the coffee shop.

Today?
I have to sift through so many minutes of Reports and Youtube ..."Thinkers" To get the same thing that a mere 15 minutes of Breakfast used do.

I miss it.

Good Question.
Good Luck On Your Project.
Good Luck To All.
Peace.

(Now, I'm Going to Read The Rest Of The Posts. Thank You.)

orionfoxgibson : I think using less deductive reasoning is what's killing the creative thought process in this world.

Instead of people gathering facts, debating, and forming their own opinions, they listen to what your "youtube thinkers" are telling them without actually looking at the facts or the raw information.  They aren't coming up with their own process because now everything is neatly laid out for them.

I read a piece by a newspaper journalist who said the world, 20 years ago, had articles about what was happening without interference of opinions or interpretations of the facts.

Now we have 'listicles" as he called them.  Everything has to be broken down into easy to understand lists, top 10 lists, or just "We'll tell you everything in 45 seconds or fewer and you don't have to interpret or think for yourself."

The internet is a wonderful tool because it allows free exchange of ideas.  But it also makes takes away the requirement to think for one's self.

I'm 50/50.  I lived before the internet and it's possible.  You just went outside and made friends.  Is the internet to blame for an inability of people to socially interact in person?  Perhaps.  Is it a reason obesity is through the roof in the U.S.?  It may play a role.

It's a tool.  Whether for good or bad, it's here now.  There's no sense in whining about how good things used to be or telling us all how great this new online thing is.  It's here and that's that.

The advantage of using real people or "Friends" to help interpret?
Is everyone has a reputation.
Good, Bad, Trustworthy, or Not.
A name and a face on the net is just a name and a face.
Is a person Honest or do they tell people what they want to hear?
I'll take a real person with a history I can ask about anyday over this mess.
Checking for the devils in the details used to be a hobby. (Today? Requirement.)
I sort of agree with your National Weight Issue observation.
The thing is.... I have seen more problems with the free world taking away Job Options from the youth as being a larger Part Of National... "Heavey Weight...-ism".
(I Hope It Sounded Funny.)

Get them a job sooner than age 18 and you might see all kinds of changes.
That's just my opinion though.
I could be wrong.
Thank You For Your time.
Good Luck On Your Next project.

Good Luck To All.
Peace.
