Do you stay up until midnight and tune into a news station to watch the ball drop? Do you make any New Years' Resolutions?

I usually do both of those things but I never do anything else.

First of all, what's the ball drop?
Second of all, I don't make new year's resolutions really, not a lot of people do in holland in my knowledge, ANYWAY.

Usually I go outside to fire off some fireworks, but i'm not so sure this time, I mean, eh. Maybe i'll be outside for a little bit and fire off some fire crackers () But that's about it.

Oh, yeah I forgot. I'm gonna watch Ik hou van holland, Which translates to I love holland. But that's before 2015

imamonster :  Cool! A lot of people in my area fire off fireworks on New Year's.

To my knowledge, only my country (the United States) does this. The ball drop is an event that's broadcasted live on TV. It's a huge gathering of people who celebrate and count down to the second the New Year begins. They also drop a giant ball down this tower thingamabob (I think, I'm not sure what it's actually like, I only pay attention to the countdown part ).

I just Chile out with a cold beer. If I'm in the mood I watch the ball drop. To be honest I never got in to holidays. My mom always got the family together. For these events with her gone it's just makes me sad now.

We start the year with cheering because the clock on the tv shows that the new year has begun. We're maybe going to fire off some fireworks then and we're going to watch the other fireworks as well. And best of all, we're going to eat 'oliebollen' (dough balls with raisins in them, often eaten with powder sugar) and applebeignets (dough cakes with apples and raisins inside)!
We also have something called 'the new year eve dive' which is just a mass of people running in the sea or a lake and then running out. I have never done it before and I think I'm going to skip it this time, but I think that I'll do it once just to experience what it's like.

It varies really,  sometimes stay up with my family and watch the ball drop thing and occasionally some of my friends might invite me to a casual New Year's party with their family. Aside from that though, I don't really have anything else set aside as far as celebrating goes. My friend already invited me to a party this week for the new year, and I might watch the ball drop if I'm able. Before the new year, I come up with a short list of goals of things I want to accomplish and goals I want to set for the upcoming year.

Pull an allnighter!

Normally family would come over and we would eat good food and the usual likes, but my dad is currently sick, so that won't be happening.

Since the girl I'm with is already at her family, I'll stick to the internet, videos, and games to celebrate. Possibly have a few friends join me for a bit on skype just being random and having fun.

I usually just work.

For 2010-2012, I rang in the new year behind the bar (as a bar tender) with no one in attendance.  My bar wasn't really the kind of place you'd go for a new year's celebration.

Last year,  I was at my new job sitting at my computer at the hospital nearby a nurse practitioner whom I only vaguely knew.  Wafting through the air from a patient's room down the hall, we heard the sound of "8-7-6...." from the ball drop on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve.  The Nurse Practitioner turned her head around.  I turned my head towards hers.  We stood up, smiled, and gave each other a big hug.  ...Then we sat back down and got back to work- the only sounds being the beeps and bloops from the heart monitors.

This year, I'm back at the hospital again for another night shift.

So, no real traditions, unfortunately.

As for those of you who don't tune in to New York City's ball drop- you're missing out!  It's the only way to ring in the new year!

@ imamonster Know exactly what they are and sounds good.

New years traditions huh. Well we always watch the college bowl games during the day and while that is going on the day is also spent in and out of the kitchen making a special homemade dinner . Then we sit up and watch movies as we wait for the ball to drop ( sounds like a personal problem that I want no part of ---> ball dropping ). After that has happened we finish up with a Christmas movie like Miracle on 34th Street or something like that. The kids get to shoot off fireworks and roast smores . Then we go to bed.

I'm probably one of the weirdos that doesn't do anything.  haha. I just honestly don't care all that much for it.  I know a FEW times, my husband's family stayed up until midnight to start the new year with a group prayer, and if my recollection is correct, we drank a bit of grape juice.  However, they don't seem to keep it as part of a regular tradition.

Starting a new year is great, but I don't actually do anything special other than reflect on the previous year and then take a few months erasing the old year every time I date something.

PacmanandMariofan : *Enters Time Machine, travels back to 2014* Ahem, first of all, I'm already in the future . Hmm, what do I do when I usually kick off New Year? I usually stay up late with my family until Midnight comes. We wear some decorated masks, hats, and etc... Thank God we didn't miss the countdown this time. (We caught it at 6 seconds!). After the end of the countdown, we screamed full of joy. We hugged each other :3. And, for the New Year's resolutions? I'm not sure about that.... Oh yeah! I do remember once, (I don't remember which year), I wanted to do some resolutions. Such as being serious, stop searching weird things at the Internet. But later, I say "Screw this!!", and I return to the person I'm usually is. There you have it! Oh and, one thing: (Enters Time Machine, travels to the future, A.K.A 2015 ).

Not much really. Usually I just stay up and watch, listen or read something I really love so it'll be the last thing I did in the old year and the first I do in the new year. Tonight I'm having a mini Buffy The Vampire Slayer marathon with my brother and sister then I plan on sleeping in.

I always watch the entire new years show including the concerts and such that start a few hours before midnight, this it was the Carson Daly one, which I was actually at the taping for one of the bits. This year was the first time that I ever made a resolution and its a fun one. Throughout 2014, I want to marathon Digimon, Pokemon, and Yugioh. I only have a select amount of seasons for each show, bit if I can, I will try to watch every available episode for all of them.

Once the New Year comes, what I normally do to kick of the new year, absolutely nothing. The reason why, I don't really go to any parties or go to and festivals for new years, because what's really the point of me going to them, I'm better chilling out at home when the new year comes, and next year will be no different.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
