The majority of people I talk to either use cable, satellite, or some internet service to watch their favorite shows. I think a very overlooked method is by using an antenna to receive local (now digital) channels for free. Since analog signals have been changed to digital ones in most places, the quality is very nice with most broadcasts being in 720p or 1080i.

Even though the selection of material is entirely up to the stations to access the broadcasting rights to (which can be rather limited), it's still a decent way to get some shows when on a tight budget.

What are your thoughts on over the air TV? Do you use it?

Clayton 2 : I don't have cable or satellite so I have to stick with regular TV. There's great shows on those channels so I don't have a big desire to upgrade to cable or satellite.

We do have an antenna but we very rarely watch TV that way. Most of the time we stream and therefore skip most of the adds. Plus we can watch it whenever.

In my dorm, we do.

There don't seem to be any particularly good channels.

At home, I haven't watched over-the-air TV since maybe 2006-7, possibly earlier.

I remember those giant antennas on top of the TV. That feels like forever ago.

I don't use it, but I have one, my house in general does not. We actually have 3 lying around our house.

It's been while since my family used an over the air (antennas). Since the late 90's, my family has been using cable to watch T.V. but before then, we did used antennas and they were a pain because you have to adjust the antennas, but once you put it in a certain spot, you get a decent picture, but other than that, it's all static.
