Hello students of the Vizzed Community!

Besides focusing on academics, there are also activities outside of school that interest us to get involved. One of these activities outside of school work is clubs and they help students look good on their resume and applications. I am interested in seeing who are in clubs at their schools.

So my question to you all is what club(s) are you involved in at the moment? Why does it interest you? Do you like clubs in general and are you in more than one club? Do you plan to be more involved and dedicated in clubs in the future?

At first, I was in HOSA and Save the Children Foundation, but I just decided to quit HOSA. Medical science isn't my thing :. I'm still in Save the Children, and I plan to stay in it (I put my feels into this club). I was interested in Trap Club, why not? You get to travel, and shoot things, what's not to love about that? I know I couldn't be dedicated to such a thing, so I decided not to at all. Later in the year, once Track opens I'm going to join it. I did Track last year, and I liked it (I wasn't really dedicated though, I just went to all the practices, and when we actually competed I bailed.) I'm going to try harder this year. I'm not sure if this counts, but I'm also learning how to play the guitar.

Right now at school, I am in Literature Magazine club, Game and Comics club, and Chinese club. I've been in the Lit Mag club since last year after receiving an invitation to join. I am still in the club this year because I enjoy it. I like doing the writing workshops, and I enjoy participating in the coffee houses my club hosts after school. This year, my friends nagged me to join CGC, so I decided to join. It is fun, but I probably won't be as active there as I am in Lit Mag since it's just playing games every couple weeks, and I want to get some school work done. The Chinese club is a new club in my school that started this month, hosted by a transfer student in my school who came from China. She decided to start the club so we can introduce students to the culture. I joined because I find it interesting and feel it would be fun to be in. Right now, I am only in three clubs in school. I may join more clubs in later years.

When I was in high school, I was really too shy to join clubs, and my parents wouldn't have allowed it anyways.  They couldn't / didn't want to give us rides to and from school, and certainly weren't interested in forking over cash for the clubs that required it.  However, my shyness kept me from such things more than any home factors.

That DID sort of change in my 11th grade year.  I changed schools, you see, and the schools were stark opposites in terms of academics, behavior, and educational opportunities.  Going from school A to school B and back to school A (the bad one).... the experience was such an eye opener that I vowed to do things differently.  Thus, when I joined school C and had the chance to start over, I tried.  I don't remember how I was able to join ANY clubs at all, but my bus must have come late, or maybe clubs were held at some point during the school day.... I'm not really sure.

However, I did join a few.  I tried Chess Club, and I wrote for the school newspaper and yearbook.  I also helped the Special Ed department a lot, so I was the Special Olympics 'cheerleader', so to speak.  I was invited to travel with them to all their games, and I was often allowed out of creative writing for my superb work, so that I could spend time with those kids.

I think at one point I tried to do a little of Academic Bowl and math team, but I can't be certain.

I tried marching band and jazz band, but money and a racist pedophile director ended that quickly. (Seriously, the man went to jail for inappropriate relationships with boys in the band... and he also once went on a tirade against white people with me, the only white kid, sitting right in the room!)

Of course, I was naturally a part of the National Honor Society and we had morning meetings.... but I don't know if that counts, exactly.

As a teacher, I did try to START two clubs. I tried to start a chess team and a board game club, but neither worked for every long.  lol

However, I've been a coach of the math team almost every year I've taught, though not -completely- by choice.

I'm usually too busy working on homework or maintaining my Minecraft server to be apart of any groups or clubs.
Plus, there really aren't any that spark my interest. So I really just do school to do school.

Math team > the rest.
I did the scholar bowl stuff in middle school (and moderate to this day) but nothing else really interests me. Cello club shut down after my sophmore year because the teacher now isn't a cellist and there isn't scholar bowl in high school :/. So instead of a bunch of clubs (and studying) I play video games!

I'm involved in a couple of clubs at school, I'm in psychology club and anatomy club. We've done a couple things throughout the year like  decorate the school for Halloween and now we are going to give each other gifts that are under $5. The person we are supposed to buy a gift for is completely random as well. I'm not really in a lot of clubs, but it is better than nothing since I didn't join anything sophomore year. I plan to join a few more clubs when I become a senior, that way I can at least say I participated in some after school activities. My school has quite a few clubs including quidditch as well....yes, from Harry Potter.....Don't even ask.....

I was only in one Club in High School and that was book club. However, I was so well known around the school that I was able to roam the halls if I pleased. (not that i did or anything) After joining book club, I also became An unofficial library assistant. All the librarians were cool with me I remember giving them a list of books that I thought the students would be interested in. And they even got quite a few of them! I also remember them 'lending' me a book that wasn't in the computer system. Because they trusted me. I felt so in awe at the trust placed in me. Looking back it was nice, and I think one of the librarians had a Porsche. Ponder that

When I was in school I was involved with multiple clubs. Yes I think clubs are necessary and I joined them because they were something I was interested in at the time. Would I join another if I was still in school .... hell yes. It's a great way to relieve stress and you make friends with like minded people your own age. Granted there was not that many clubs available when I went to school but of the ones that were I was a part of quite a few.
