Okay peeps, got another thread idea, for this one it's a bit more unique, if you guys and gals like the idea of the knock at the door thread, you

will love this one. Alright everyone here is the lovely question: Okay you have three beings here, one is the person being silenced, the next is

the silencer (the one silencing the individual), and finally silence itself. Which of these three things do you fear the most? The silencer(the

oppressor) The one being silenced (the possible rebel, or the man/woman who has nothing to lose) or the silence (tranquility? Or is it?).

Remember as always never a wrong answer here, and never bias whatever you think then that's the answer, and a good one at that. Would

love to hear back from other's to see their thoughts on the matter.

I say the one being silenced, because he/she has nothing to lose. Since rebel people are unpredictable, it'd make the oppressor have a hard time keeping him/her quiet. Though of course, if the oppressor is bribing the silenced individual, then maybe it'll keep his/hers mouth closed. But if the silenced person is an enemy of the oppressor, then that's a problem-- unless the oppressor has the guts to kill and the ability to cover it up, I'd say otherwise. All in all, I think the silenced individual would be most fearful, in my opinion. Since, they'll have you in the palm of your hands.

Welp, I love silence – can't get enough of it, that rules out fear of silence.

The silencer can only silence me if I allow them to, that rules out fear of a silencer.

By those 2 statements, I can't have a fear of a person being silenced?

This is a really great question.

I love silence... I really, really do. It's peaceful and calming.  If I had a choice, I'd be surrounded by silence almost all the time. lol

However, if you're talking about a big scheme of things (politics, world events, life)... silence should probably be feared the most.  Without ideas, there would be no growth.  Being 'silenced' in your scenario also eliminates methods of communication like writing and sign language, I'm gathering, since you called the silencer an 'oppressor'.

I couldn't say whether the silenced or the silencer should be more feared though.  I think it's too subjective of a question since the topic at hand would be weighed differently from person to person.  (That is, the idea being silenced might be a good one or a bad one, thus changing which party is in the "wrong".)

tRIUNE : Awesome answer, if I am getting your answer correctly you chose the individual that is being silenced correct? If that is correct then, I agree, one who is silenced for so long, can have the ability to lash out, so that is quite scary. That is why it is so dangerous to oppress someone for so long, because you never know when an individuals breaking point is at hand, and why a famous quote from the bible says treat other's as you want to be treated. I mean put your thoughts in the individual that is being silenced, I would hate that, and I really don't know anyone else who wouldn't. Never to have your own opinion, ouch that would be horrible. But once again awesome answer.

Singelli : Thank-you, and that is a really great answer, I should have put both, or all three as an answer as well sorry about that. To me I would hate to be silenced, just imagine never to be able to say what is on your mind, that would be horrible. But as equally horrible would be the silencer, the power might be addicting at first, but if you peel back your mentality and realize what you are doing, to countless people that would heavily on anyone's psyche, so to me one would be far worst in the physical aspect, and the other far worst in the psyche aspect of things.

Kuti_Kat : Very good answer, I agree with what you are saying, silence though could be extremely scary as well, if you think about it, if not proportioned correctly, and you could never hear anything ever again, that could really take it's toll on the individual, it would be like a giant sensory deprivation chamber, which can either be very soothing, and relaxing, or a torture chamber. So really in all aspects, the key would be balance here, to much of anything could drive you nuts or be harmful.

Lycan212 : I totally agree with you there. I guess it also depends on the person, and yes too much of anything is bad for you.

None of the above! What I would fear more is the one (or even being the one) that somehow knows about this silencing situation but either cannot or is not willing to stop it.

I think I would have to say all four ( fourth one being on the fence about in a way ) because they all are a bad situation waiting to happen. The rebel being silenced will rise up, angry, and worse than the reason they were being silenced for in the first place. The one doing the silencing because that person is going to most likely confront the aggression and try stronger tactics to silence the rebel. Also the silence itself because if it is imposed then during that time nothing is said giving the issue time to fester in both of their heads which will cause them to class again later because now they are both stimulated and ready for a rematch ( which will most likely be over something stupid ). Finally bringing up the rear of this equation is the fourth person who is standing by and witnessing this. That person is stuck in a situation they see is escalating and now they have to decide whether  : to endure and let the scene play out ( could possibly get violent ) , get involved and try to diffuse the problem ( or cause it to escalate .... possible violence.  ), and just ignoring the issue and leaving the scene ( in which case if one of the other two was hoping for help then that person is gonna be mad or hold a grudge for the blow off ). It would also depend on the relationship between all four people involved as well because that could affect very much how things are handled. Well I rattled on enough and hope I made sense. Take it easy and pz out till next time.

Brain-Splattered : Very good, and well thought out answer, I also would like to say the rebel always has a cause and belief that they are fighting for, cause as a famous quote once said, "If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything."

What I like most about this question is the fact that it's so open to interpretation. Some here have taken it as meaning literal silence (no noise), while others have taken it as meaning figurative silence (conformatism). Really our perception of the question tells us as much about one another as our actual answers.

As for me, I see this as being more of a forced conformitism situation. A "Don't cause a fuss, just do what everyone else does" sort of thing. As such I fear the silence and only the silence.

The silencer cannot force us to remain silent and conform. They cannot make us abandon our individuality or follow the mindless hordes who have caved in to the pressures of societies' perceived norm.

The silenced is too weak to stand up for themselves and so can pose no threat. And even if they should come to their senses and fight, the only one who needs to fear them is the silencer, who I am not.

The silence is the only thing to be feared, as it can only exist if I choose to conform and abandon myself and my beliefs and follow the masses. Silence only leads to ignorance and a proverbial prison sentence and being someone else's puppet. That's no life.

Oh yes, silence is golden (but duct tape is silver ). Seriously, there are so many times I wished I hadn't talk. Being too honest can be harmful to yourself sometimes.

Silence itself, of course. You can kill either of the other two, easily, but if you're silenced you can't do anything, and thus live at the mercy of the silencer. The silenced isn't that scary, since if this guy can subdue him, I can, too. The silencer is threatening, sure, but only because he has the ability to silence you. Silence is truly horrifying. You have no say, therefore no strength, therefore no freedom. Freedom comes with power, and power with freedom. At the same time, freedom can give the cruel and oppressive people in the world the same power. But on the same note, the silencer could be the rebel, having won a long fought war, and the silenced could be the oppressor, having silenced many people but foolishly looked his soon-to-be silencer over. But it really depends: Silence is somewhat harmless, as long as it doesn't have an outlet for its power. So, by giving Silence an outlet for its power, has the Silencer become Silence itself? There are really two ways to look at the problem.

Lycan212 : All three would be dangerous. But since i would not be siding with the silencer. I'm not sure that I have much to fear in the oppressed. (I'd probably be trying to help) But then again, I would not fear the silencer either. Many like them have come and gone. The silence is what I would fear. Why? Because that would be an indication that the silencer is the victor, and no one is doing anything about it. The silence in this case would be the real fear.
