So, all of my friends know that I have back problems. The last update I gave you guys was a few months ago when I got some medical steroids shoved into my back to try to help relieve some of the pressure that the herniated disc was doing to my pinched nerve, which causes me pain in my left knee.

I went in and told them that the past few days my herniated disc had felt like it had been moving around a lot, and that it hurt way more than the normal constant that I am used to.

I woke up yesterday, and couldn't feel my left leg for an entire half hour. I contributed it to sleeping on something wrong, and just a bad day, since I have them sometimes. Well, I woke up this morning, and my back where the herniated disc is felt even worse. Meanwhile, my knee was buckling all day, and it took everything I had to be able to stand up when I was walking or standing, even though I may not have been showing it.

Well, I recently went into the ER a few hours ago, and they are ordering an Emergency MRI. I should get a call sometime today, and the MRI will be scheduled for Friday. I live in the desert, basically, and the hospital is kind of small. They have to bring a truck that has the MRI machine in it, and it's only there on Tuesday and Friday, if I remember correctly.

I just thought my friends might want an update, since I hadn't given one in awhile, and I am scared to find out results. I have a job I am supposed to start in 6 weeks. If they have to do surgery, I'll be mad because that means I'll have to wait to start my job, and I'll just rack up more debt to my back. But, at the same time, I'll be happy that I will finally get my back taken of.

Ouch. Having a herniated disc is never fun.

It's good that you're getting those problems sorted out (or trying to get sorted out, at least).

Sure, it'll hamper your job progress but it's always best to put yourself first.

That sounds really terrible, Caleb.  I'm hoping that it all goes well for you.  I know it would suck to have surgery, but if it fixes things in the long run, that should be a positive at the very least, right?

Are you going in today? Or will you be going in on Friday for your MRI, or did I just misunderstand something there? I hope that all goes well with the procedure, it would be nice if you didn't need surgery, but it would be better if it was taken care of permanently! Maybe you'll just need a Chiropractor or something like that...

thing1 : Well try to have a good outlook if possible because I learned if you have a positive SWB (Subjective Well-Being) that it correlates to how your physical body will feel to you. Like if you have a negative outlook on yourself, your body is more likely to reflect your negative outlook and create something worse due to your negative outlook and make you feel crappier than you would with a positive Subjective Well-Being, so maybe having a positive Subjective Well-Being can alleviate some of the feelings and pain you are experiencing now. Good luck with the MRI !

Ouch, sounds tough, I hope the results won't be bad, and that the MRI scan will work, or you will have to wait another week D:
Good luck, let's hope for a positive result. And if you can't work then maybe you can be here more?

As Singelli said, it fixes things in the long run, so you should be mostly happy that you're getting the MRI. I read about what your new job will be (if I remember correctly, it's working with construction vehicles or big trucks or something like that), and your job will be a lot better if you get the MRI.

I hope it goes well! Please update us once it's over! I'll be praying for you. Also, don't be afraid. That will only make things worse. I was afraid for the longest time of having my blood taken. I still don't like it, but I don't fear it anymore. That fear caused so many complications, and prevented me from going to some doctor's visits.

I wish you luck on the MRI. I myself had to get one about three years ago, and that little tube of horror is where I developed claustrophobia and lygrophobia... in the span of an hour. On a lighter side, though, I hope that they can see the problem and be able to fix it. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Update for everybody that has posted so far...

The MRI people at the hospital didn't call me because they said they needed approval from my Primary Care Manager. So, when they called him, he said " No. "

So glad I am getting a new Doctor on Tuesday.

You can barely walk and feel your legs hmm. an MRI might help and the Doc. says no.  Freakin insurance and bureaucratic b.s.  Back problems are no laughing matter and I am glad you are getting a new doctor too, one who maybe cares about your health.  I wish you the best of luck man.
