Asking because I asked someone that and she's never responded to my text and she usually responds to me.

I didn't think that it was personal if it is. People have asked me & I'm cool about it. It is even asked in the movie, Mean Girls.

So is it a personal question, honestly? If so, then I won't ask anyone else it & I've learned a lesson.

I think everyone has different comfort levels so you might want to take that into consideration. Personally the question wouldn't bother or offend me but if you don't know the person so well it could strike them as a bit odd to ask. If it's someone you're on good terms with I would assume it would be fine to ask them that, and I assume since you both have swapped numbers then you two must be fine with each other. 

Also, it may be too early to jump to conclusions, the person may have gotten caught up in something. As well, a thing I do is I'll read a text and try to think of how to respond to it and end up forgetting about it completely or think I'd already responded to it and end up never responding. Basically there are a lot of variables in this kind of  situation. Maybe wait it out a little while and if they still haven't responded shoot them a normal text just saying hey or whatever.

I definitely agree with styrofoamboots. Some people may find that as an odd question, when others may not. And generally asking that kind of question you would be more like buddies, as I know my friends and I say very odd things to one another and are always judging how good looking people we talk to may be. But glad to hear that you've heard back from them!
