I was thinking about making a type of giveaway for steam games or items I get. I don't think I'd have items readily available so I thought of this.  What if we had drawing every two weeks and the winner of it gets a ton of items. To enter you'd have to gift an item to the pool and you'd get an entry for every item you gifted. Then at the end of the two weeks a winner would be chosen and they'd either get the entire pool or 3 names would be chosen and they'd split it.
Paid games would be worth 5 entries (Depending on price) and cards/game items would be worth one. Coupons would only be worth one entry for each type. So if you gifted 10 coupons for Cs: Go you'd only get one entry for it. The winner doesn't need multiple coupons for the same game.

The only problems I would see is if people contribute to the drawing and if whoever hosted it gets accused of cheating. I could try to record myself doing the drawing or someone trusted by everyone could do it instead of me.
If you reply to this thread make sure you say if you'd participate and if you'd trust me or someone else to host this.

Not gonna summon a bunch of people because they'd probably see this anyway.

Don't let coupons be enterable. They are spammed to us by Steam as it is (I get tons of them every month, and I know I could get more). I can't even give them away.

Also, if you decide to make it a game drawing, I suggest DQ'ing any game that is in the first tier of any bundle. Because those would also be easily spammable. Second tier and beyond is fine, simply because it's not as easy to spam 4-10 dollar tier items. But anyone could spend three bucks on three bundles, and put all their leftover games in.

If you gift something you dont need you could get something that you might want later.

Do items for games count too?
Such as stuff for TF2, CS:GO and Dota 2

I might have a few extra cards that I can throw in for the first drawing.

I would be willing to throw a few trading cards in, but when would the drawing be happening? Just 'cause I can't sell or trade my cards for the entire month of September, as I had a purchase in the past Thirty days.

earthwarrior : I might join in. Sounds like a good idea! And I agree with Leggy. Don't allow coupons to be entered. Coupons are received by many by the dozens. And it's sad there's no option to decline the coupons. Some coupons are brilliant (like the 90% Portal 2 one), but the majority of them are not worth using, since they cannot be combined with sale prices.

Sounds like a good idea on paper. I don't think this idea will work out in practice though. 

Firstly there's the sake of drawing the prizes... It needs to be someone who will never win. To stop the whole this is all a scam claim 

Secondly why not just gift each other games.. Or cards etc.. You could do some sort of secret Santa thing.. But meh it'd he hard to organise fairly

If it's because you've never used the market before then maybe... It's been like forever since i first used it

sonicmcmuffin : Well it is techinacally my job to run this place, so I guess I would be ok with doing the drawing, I just won't enter at all so I would have no reason to win.


It's hard since earthwarrior has not made a purchase and once he does that he would have to wait the 30 days to send anything, so that brings up a pretty big problem.

I personally feel that it may be too much of a hassle if w allow users to submit cardas and items. I feel that the sending and recieving would work a lot better if it's just games that are being used.

zanderlex : We could have the users post in a thread and say what they donated and how many points they should have. Then one of us could verify that.
