Sorry for your condition. Father and mother both are diabetic. They're also in they're late, late 50's so they don't/can't exercise. My sister was a diabetic until she had Lap-Band surgery (restricts how much you're allowed to eat), and now she is a bulimic. 5'4 and 90 pounds...............
I'm a runner. Always have been. Because of that, my metabolism works at super-speed. I eat all the burgers, pizza, and fries I want (I go crazy at all-you-can-eat buffets) and I'm 130 lbs for 5'10.?
if you can't run, or at least jog maybe 1/4 mile at a time, then just go out walking often. Whether walking is really that beneficial for a diabetic because it is?exercise, it's definitely relaxing if you listen to your favorite playlist. I go for walks at night specially now because it's cooler at night and there are less people out and less people are likely to notice you.
I've been drinking strictly Poland Spring water for at least 4 consecutive years. I prefer the taste of Poland Spring (trust me....there is a difference between deer park, Dasani, and Poland...)and I put about 7 bottles in my refrigerator to make them cold. My mother chooses not to drink warm water because its warm.........don't get that, but we both prefer cold water. I drink at least 24 bottles a week. I have 2 with each meal, and a few throughout the rest of the day. For someone of your size, I'd recommend buying a mega box of Welch's fruit gummy packs. They're small which can limit how much you eat per sitting. I always need something to drink when I'm eating to wash the food down, so I usually drink half-a full bottle of water on a small gummy pack or even like a fiber bar. You gotta constantly be drinking water to flush undigested food out of your stomach before it turns into calories you must burn. I also don't keep candy in my house, as there are other things to snack on.
Don't bother buying soda at the store. Try to walk past it. At gatherings or events, have a few sodas, but be conscious when it's just you alone.
This is a problem for many diabetics. They choose to eat out because it's cheaper or the food is better than what they can make or they cant cook at all. I can cook, but when I don't want to I heat up something artificial junk that I shouldn't eat. Try attending some cooking classes and watch the food network ALOT. I preferably make burgers, pastas, salads, and steaks for myself most nights. I eat out about once a week, and it's relaxing not having to make your own dinner. To maintain a healthy diet, you gotta learn to eat healthier too. So take many cooking classes, learn how to make dishes that taste good that are most likely healthier than what you eat. This is just me, but I keep bags of Romaine Lettuce and spinach in my refrigerator to eat handfuls when I eat dinner. It sounds stupid, but it's eating your vegetables. I don't like the taste of cooked spinach, So I take a fork full of pasta, a couple spinach leaves, sip of water, more pasta. I add lettuce to my burger and the beef taste kinda subtracts from the lettuce taste. That's how I started to eat leafs: mask the taste of healthy food and you won't notice the nutrients you're getting.
I wish you luck on whatever advice you take from anyone, if you plan on losing weight Sorry for your condition. Father and mother both are diabetic.
