Hello everyone. Its been far too long since I have done this so....Instead of having these types of reviews in the anime forum I will do it in plays forum from now on. I hope you like what I have written here. This is my 4th anime review. ^-^
Gurren Lagann Anime Review
Synopsis 8 out of 10: This story is based on Simon and Kanima. These two find their way to the surface, after the crash of a mecha, in their home village. Kanima take the chance to go up the surface. And Simon has no choice but to follow him as he doesn't want to leave Kanima. With all the ruckus happening, a young girl appears to defeat the mecha. Her name is Yoko. After the defeat of the mecha, in a mecha of their own that Simon found, Yoko returns to the surface with Kanima and Simon. What adventures awaits for these two in the outside world?
Genre 7 out of 10: This anime has action, adventure, comedy-drama and mecha genre. So if you are looking for these types, or these are the ones that you would watch. This may be the anime for you.
Story 7 out of 10: Two young people called Simon and kanima live underground. They are not alone as there is a village, that is cut out from the outside world..... Little do they know, that is all about to change. Something cracks open their underground home. Kanima a brave young man who boasts a lot, and Simon a quiet scaredy cat, what will become of these two now that the surface has opened up to them?
Graphics 8 out of 10: In this anime the graphics is a bit different, in a way. The lighting is different, and also how the characters were made out to be too. As you know each anime is different, graphic wise. Some people would say to each their own, that's if you get that reference. In some ways it can show comic, manga sides in the anime. But, only for certain parts. This anime came out on April the 1st in 2007.
Sound 8 out of 10: Gurren Lagann has great soundtracks. And also has great opening and ending songs too. It has 3 opening songs and 3 ending songs. My most favourite one is called *Ten wo Tsuke* my big brother showed me that music and recommended me to watch the anime. And did so, through listening to one of the soundtracks. Its one of the best determinating music that I have ever heard. When you listen to it you can feel that determination, not only that the emotions to it too. Its played in some episodes, so you'll get a chance to hear it. The sounds of the voice characters emotions, are sad sometimes. This is as you watch more in the episodes. This is a Japanese anime, so it can only be viewed in sub and dub. You can see in other languages as well. But that’s only if you understand them. As most people would understand, the sub and dub only, as the translations are there to help the viewers. Making it enjoyable to watch.
Addictiveness 7 out of 10: When you first watch Gurren Lagann it is very addicting. I say Wikipedia is very smart for hiding one genre out from the anime. This is something, that you would watch again and again. Or maybe not. Not all people would watch a lot of anime's over for certain reasons and such.
Depth 7 out of 10: This anime is very emotional at some points. there's......some kind of different determination that it brings, and literally you can feel it. This anime teaches you so many things.....it also in a way, helps you to be a stronger person. I would compare this anime to *Neon Genesis Evangelion* Simons personality is so much like, Shinji. They both start out being scared. Then as the show progress so do they, to be stronger. I will say this though. I think too many characters died, and also it was way too much of how they did this. There was one part I didn't like.....after a certain episode they introduced another character. And they didn't say much of her background story, they did, but not to the extent of how they should really put it. Here are some other things that I saw. I also feel like it was a bit rushed storyline wise. Like ending one part, and going onto another. They also missed a bit of how she came to love Simon. So there were some missing plots to fill in. I was surprised with how they revealed most things about her, near the end of the series. Leaving me with a black stare of unhappiness on my face. It wasn't the best way to end it sadly. But in some ways it was a good ending.
Overall 8 out of 10: This anime is worth watching. Its exciting, full of epicness and also as I said you get taught many things. Like how to handle your emotions. You will also love the characters as well. Its really funny too as you will crack up a lot. This anime has some faults too there were something's, that I did not like. And I will not point that out as I don't like to reveal too many things in my anime reviews.
