I'm pretty sure there are the same topics like these a couple of times in the forums.

I don't think violent video games cause or encourage violence as long as a person can tell the difference between video games and reality. I play violent video games like shooting games but it never really affected me much to involve in violence.

I don't think they will cause or encourage violent behavior. Maybe when you're drunk or high but many people can easily play shooting games and are perfectly normal. I have this too, I play Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto with my friends sometimes and I feel normal afterwards. Maybe a bit weird after playing games for so long but for the rest I feel relaxed.

Still, I won't deny that they desensitize people to violence. I recently saw a mangled up and killed body. Just a picture on a news article haha. Still, I didn't feel much disgust or any minor emotion about it. It seemed like something I'd see in a game, and I just couldn't bring myself to feel anything.

But the same could be said about violent movies, or TV shows. Seriously, watch Dexter. I've only seen a bit of it myself, but most violent video-games I've played don't compare.
