My favorite generation 1 starter is Squirtle because it's like the coolest turtle to me (Squirtle Squad for the win!). It levels up to have good balanced stats which can be useful in battle. I think it can manage itself if it's trained and used properly.

My favorite Gen 1 starter is Charmander. This is because Charizard is one of my all time favorite Pokemon and is one of the strongest. I guess my 2nd favorite would have to be Squirtle, because you know, Brock.

I always choose Bulbasaur as he is the easiest but I like the other two more and my favourite of them is Squirtle, he's cute and evolves into a really good Pokémon. He is also the speediest of the three I believe.

Blastoise!  Also  maybe you can add to the title starter evolutions. Blastoice is awesome I mean how can you not love a turtle with canons on his back? A lot of people prefer Charizard But I like blastoise better.

For me, this decision is harder than any of the other generations. I mean in gen 2 Cyndaquil is the clear choice, so is Torchic in gen 3 and Piplup in 4. But this one is a tough decision. In Leaf Green I went with Bulbasaur. In Fire Red I went with Charmander. In Red I went with Squirtle. I think I have to go with Bulbasaur though.

I did't play gen 1 pokemon games too much. But in my childhood, I remember that my favorite starter is Squirtle (aka Blastoise) because he helped me beat rock-type and ground-type pokemons quickly.
And it saves me the trouble to find a pokemon that can learn swin :3......I'm that bad at pokemon.

Venasaur all the way!
Because quite frankly, you know that a starter's good when you can just solo the whole game with it. (It's pretty much the only Pokemon I use in Leafgreen or Blue/Red).
Plus, I'm incredibly partial to Grass types (Mostly thanks to this piece of nostalgia).

There really is no really clear choice in my opinion. First rock and ground move are strong against grass. so as long as you have a Pidgey that has gust you fine for Brock. As long as you caught a Weedle or Caterpie and even the rare chance of a Pikachu (For Red and Blue of course) you will be fine for Misty. Charizard would be fine for later in the game against ice Pokemon for much later in the game seeming that fire Pokemon are a minority of all the original 151 Pokemon. With approximately 20 Pokemon ( not counting evolution's) that has the potential of learning the 5 five moves in the whole game.

Generation one pokemon are the best version because of its simplicity and classic games unlike the other pokemon which is more complicated and confusing game style. As for my starter pokemon I chose Blastoise it has strong type moves and the best of all pokemon starters I tried and best to battle an oppenent.
