My little sister, and for the sake of simplicity, let's call him my stepbrother, just got bunk beds in their new room. He says the top is best, and she says the bottom. I personally like the bottom, because it is shaped like a cave, and is lower, which keeps it cool. She already has a clubhouse on the bottom, and his just looks bare. He thinks sleeping higher up somehow makes him cool, even though heat rises, and you need a ladder just to get down. So, I choose bottom. If you were on a bunk bed, which bunk would you sleep on?

They are both equally scary. Whenever I am on the bottom, I fear that the top bunk will collapse on me and when I am on the top, I fear that it would either collapse or that I would fall off. However, because of the ladder situation, I will choose bottom because it's easier to just collapse onto it.

In army I slept in the bottom bunk because it was easier to wake up from there and you don't have to jump all the time from the bed and climb back if you need something. So bottom for me.

Bottom, though I used to always sleep on top since my sister really likes the bottom.

I go for the bottom, especially its because I am too big to be on top!!

There's more space to sit up straight and you can notice if anyone's trying to pull something on you. I've been told that pranks are much easier to pull on someone lower and it makes sense. They're easily accessible.

Not that I ever sleep in bunk beds.

I don't really care to be honest, I actually had a bunk bed for a few years when I was younger, and most of the time I just slept on the bottom since it was easier to access, and I could just collapse right into bed with ease. I also slept on the top and it was okay, although I don't really like climbing on the ladder. Nonetheless, I don't really care either way, but I would slightly prefer sleeping on the bottom...then there is always that concern that the top portion will collapse and make a sandwich out of you...XD

Considering that both do have sizable down-sides, I'd have to say that the bottom bunk is better. The top bunk is just filled with many bad things, such as, if you need to get something, you must climb down, retrieve the item, then haul yourself back up the ladder, and back into bed, while the life form residing in the bottom bunk simply has to scoot out of bed, get the item, and plop back to their original location. Also, while on the top bunk, there is the constant fear of the inevitable, falling off of the bed. Whether it happens from your sleep, clumsiness, or family/buddies, there's no escape from your body limply flailing around as you quickly descend from the top of the now cursed bunk bed as you approach the very essence of death, the floor.
While the top does clearly have some down-sides, let's not forget about the existence of the faults of the bottom bunk. The same fear is still applicable to the bottom bunk, but it is much different. Instead of you limp body flailing around... you get it, it is now the entire top bunk, not only the pathetic, tubby, disobedient, fool in the top bunk, but also the very top bunk itself, where you will certainly be pulverized by the massive mass of the combined mass of the obese fool and the weak bed.
In the end, just go with whatever fate fits you best: the floor, or the bed.

Well I prefer bottom even though I have never slept in a bunk bed. It just seems easy to get to and I will not wake up one morning being really tired and accidently walking right off the top.

Bottom. Two reasons for it:

1 - Im the younger brother. When we had bunk beds, my brother wanted the top. It's not like i had any idea of what was happening anyway. I was young so, if he wanted the top, he got the top. So the bottom bunk grew on me.

2 - It's easier to crash on the bottom one when you're tired. No need to climb, you just fall and sleep ^^

I choose bottom. I'm too big to sleep on the top. (You know..the whole big kangaroo feet situation)

I would say bottom bunk, but one time I hit my head when I sat up in a bottom bunk. It hurt horribly.

I'll say top bunk so you don't have to hit your head so bad

Bottom, for sure. You can set it up and have your own little personal area!

I choose top. I have acrophilia, so heights make me feel exhilarated and alive. Back when I lived in a dorm, it was my roommie who had to put up with the creaking and shaking when I would have to get up to use the facilities. It did kinda suck that I couldn't have a night stand, though.

For me, it honestly depends how high the top bunk is. For example, I have a bunk bed at my dad's house. The top bunk almost touches the ceiling, and it has a fan right next to it. I would not like that. If there is no fan or anything like that, I'd go with top bunk.

When I was younger, I went for the bottom. But now that i'm much older I would defiantly pick the top bunker. Why? Well if someone else is sleeping up top and they decide to fart during the night? I won't suffocate. that's all.

Some zany reasons for choosing the bottom bunk.

I LOVE the top bunk! This is mostly because I like being warm, so for obvious reasons I am more comfortable on top. I like climbing the ladder and knowing the fact that I am not sleeping on the ground...I understand why people like the bottom bunk, and although my reasons for preferring the top bunk is lame...I just have an unusual connection with being on the top bunk 

      I choose bottom that whey when it falls eventually your not the person that gets in trouble... But you get injured. LOL
