I used to have a computer me and my dad built a while ago. It used to be the best of the best at the time but now it's quite outdated. My current one is not custom but i hope to save up my money to get a custom one soon. I may not build this one and just have it pre-customized for me.

Does anyone else have a computer they customized or did you just buy it as it was?

My computer is not custom, everything is exactly the way it was when I bought it. (With the exception of my mouse and keyboard)

When I bought it, it was pretty powerful computer for it's time. It's not so much in today's standards, but it's still pretty good.

I have started saving money up to be able to buy newer parts, but it's not really something urgent.

I really wish I could build a custom PC, but I really have no idea how to go about doing so. I would probably also need to ask my friend for help, but that is besides the point. I am currently using an HP Notebook 2000, which I got for Xmas last year. I am actually quite content with it so far. I have had very few problems, and I can play far more games on this thing than I could on our old HP Pavilion Slimline (Oh wow, that thing was horrible for playing games). I can at least run games from 2012 and before, assuming they are not extremely taxing. Hopefully, before I go off to college, I can get a gaming laptop, but I probably will not be custom-building anything for quite some time.

I got my computer from someone for $300.  They didn't customize it at all, but, my dad won an nvidia geforce 660 ti graphics card on some youtube contest and we put it in my computer.  Also, my keyboard and mouse are different from what would normally come with my computer.  I got a Saitek eclipse 3 keyboard from ebay, and some generic mouse that has red and blue lights in it.  Other than those things, my computer is pretty much like it would be in the factory.

Mine is custom. It's only about 3 months old.
I Used a store bought for around 5 years but after 3 years studying computing I found it quite ridiculous I was using such a low spec system.
I initially planned on spending around £500 but finished around £800 ($1,350) after I decided to make it a powerful build.
It undoubtedly would have cost far more if I bought it pre-made.
It's got a very high end graphics card (gt 770) which is why I went over budget, ssd and sata hdd, top grade ram, a processor far better than my previous one, and a motherboard with onboard graphics and audio cards.
It boots to desktop in around 6 seconds and shuts down in around 3.
It plays all games at max, while running apps, web browsers, and recording/streaming gameplay.
The biggest fail is that my net sucks.

I built mine a few months back... its all outdated except for the gpu but it plays the latest games 1920x1080 on medium or higher.

Motherboard is a foxconn p43a I picked up second hand.
Cpu is core 2 quad q9400 I pulled from an ex government system.
6gb ddr2 800mhz ram I pulled from 3 different broken computers.
250gb hdd I pulled from an external seagate hdd enclosure.
Dvdrw pulled from a half burnt system a friend gave me

... the only 3 parts which are new are the 550w psu, gmc r-4 bulldozer case and a r7-250 2gb graphics card.

Cost me $180 all up so I cant complain.

Yeah I have a custom build, I can't stand off-the-shelf builds. It's actually kind of funny, because since I bought my parts wisely, I actually ended up paying about $348, which is as much as most low-end prefab units, and it's way better than any of the top of the line PCs you can buy even though it's two years old now.

I do need to get some more RAM though, and I'd like another hard drive, since they fill up so quickly with steam sales.

I guess you could call it custom, It's actually a phone that's been altered to have extra components, the 2GB ram is soldered under the CPU so it's not upgrade-able. Cpu is 1.7GHz Quad Core ARM Architechture. I have 2 USB ports and a RJ-45 port soldered all together along with the original ports that came with the phone but the board layout is not the same.  It's 48 mm x 53 mm. The heatsink is bigger than the computer itself. The graphics card is a Mali400 Quad core clocked at 433Mhz and Hardware acceleration is enabled. Though this board is now obsolete. It's an Odroid-U2 and the new revision is a U3. This is a low cost Super computer and the new revision is the same thing hence why mine became obsolete and is even cheaper. Clustering is made easy for this device if you need more firepower but at stock speed you can achieve around ~600-630 Frames per second on Debian and if configured right on Ubuntu, you can achieve the same speed. Stock Ubuntu get's around ~300-350 Frames per second, from which I've tried a Quake 3 Clone and it worked more than just fine. All the games I could get, or myself compiled, worked just as great as on Desktop PC. I've also compiled a number of emulators and getting ~60-67 Frames per second and on a 8088 Emulator, getting around 7004590 instructions/second running Windows 3.0.

No, my current PC is not custom. I would love to get a custom PC in the future. The PC I have is very plain. The computer is black, the keyboard is black, the speakers are black and gray, and the tower is black and gray. :/

My PC is custom actually. After planning on getting a new computer to upgrade from an old computer we had, my mum's friend decided to build us one, and I watched get put together. It's a fairly moderate computer when built, nothing fancy, but it was so much faster than the old one, it felt like a hyper computer. Now that I installed a dedicated grapthics card and a larger PSU, it's really quite a powerful machine (at least for a 1360x768 display monitor )

I wish my computer was custom. I want to get into pc gaming, but half of modern games wont even run on my computer.
They say that true gaming PCs aren't born, but built and tbh that doesn't seem too far from the truth.

Heck no. When I am finally able to afford one, it will definitely be custom, though. I plan on building a cheap on online that I will actually be able to use to stream with. The one I have now only has an i3, and I need at least an i4 or i5 .

Mine isn't custom, but it's decent and I can play most (but not all) of the games I want to play with little lag.

Skyrim, for instance, runs lag free on the lowest video settings. All my retro games and emulators work without trouble. When I play the more graphics-intensive Saints Row 4, however, it does get slow.

I'd only make a custom laptop if this computer broke, and as this computer is relatively new, I doubt I'll be making one in the near future.

Mine isn't anything near custom beyond the monitor I use is from an older model of Emachines before the computer itself got so many viruses, it crashed. Besides that, nothing is custom.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
