Skyrim is hands down one of my favorite games. I know there a lot of others out there that enjoy it as much as I do! I have played some of Oblivion but I prefer Skyrim over it. I do wish that they would of brought talents such as acrobatics from Oblivion to Skyrim though.
I don't have a real big preference on races in Skyrim but I am currently playing a dark elf and a khajiit which are my favorite characters so far. I prefer playing light armored one handed dual wielders who use bows and sneak. What's some of your opinions on races and classes?

I have never tried other races than nords. Every time I start a new character they all end up being sort of fighter/thief types. I guess I never cared much for magic then.

Though I have to admit the challenge on some other board to play the whole game through as a Kahjit and only using your claws sounds intriguing.

I used to only play Kajiits exclusively but I started to branch out a bit. I want to try my hand at a heavy armored two hander but I always end up making one handed sneak characters by the end of trying. So I need to try to keep to the two handed weapons. I'm not a huge fan of magic but I want to try to do a character that is a mage/caster because I want to branch out a bit. I just recently got the expansions and so far I am having a really good time playing them.

My favorite races are:
Khajiits: Because I like cats and I like playing a blend of a sneaky type character and a mage.
Bretons: Because of the 50% magic resist and for when I feel like playing a human race.
High Elf: Mostly because of how it makes the story more interesting for me being a High Elf who isn't siding with the aldmeri dominion and they have a nice starting magicka bonus and ability which is nice because pretty much almost all my characters use some kind of magic.

Skyrim is really an awesome if I had to pick the thing I like the most it's just how open the world is and how you can pretty much do stuff in any order you desire.

I only ever play as an Imperial in these games. Usually as a mass murdering psychopath.

I wish I liked Skyrim as much as I liked Morrowind and Oblivion, but I can't. It feels forced this time around.

I'll still get Elder Scrolls VI, whenever it happens, but Skyrim lost me pretty quickly, and I actually went back to Oblivion instead.

I like Skyrim, but i can fully enjoy the game since it's bad on PS3 and my PC can't play it anymore since it's crap
The race i mostly pick is Redguard, dunno just like the skin tone. Sneak, one handed weapons and bows is the way i play

but my all time favorite Elder Scrolls game is Oblivion, can't get enough of that

I feel like I should give Oblivion another chance. The main reason I lost interest in it was because my ex used to but in and tell me I was not doing things right instead of letting me experience the game on my own. I am currently trying to find all the black books in Skyrim. I've already found a few of them. I don't exactly like doing the main quest right away I love side questing and just exploring the land and caves and encampments.

Yes, yes and yes! Thanks for making this thread, Nightelf4life :-)

Originally I bought Skyrim for PS3, which I now know was a huge mistake. So after 100h of gameplay I decided to purchase Skyrim from Steam with all of its DLC. And I've enjoyed the game immensely since then! I know many people who like to add every possible mod into their game, but I'm more interested in graphics mods. Sometimes I just spend time walking around in the game and enjoying the views. Anyways, after 200 hours of gaming and two characters I finally finished the main quest! There were so many fun quests to do that I kind of forgot about the main story.

My favourite races are argonians and khajit. Even though my characters are always thieves my absolute favourite guild in the game is the Dark Brotherhood!

I personally love the Dark Brotherhood but I also love doing the bards college because of the places you get sent. I am a total sucker for exploring caves, ruins, and encampments. I also love Alchemy, I will sped hours just exploring and picking up ingredients. I've learned quickly leveling your alchemy is a really good thing to do right away because just buying potions can break your bank especially in the begging. On thing I love that they brought to skyrim was dual wielding weapons. Dual wielding has always been a preference of mine. Yes you cannot block and will more then likely take more damage but you have range to cause more damage to your enemies.
My weapon of choice for dual wielding in skyrim are war axes, I love the look of them swinging and they are the middle damage and speed. What are your weapons of choice?

Nightelf4life : Alchemy is usually one of the first skills that hit level 100 for me! I've always had a problem with carrying around too many ingredients and potions, and then I wobble around from one place to another trying to sell all my stuff! I know I could get my companion to carry stuff for me, but I always forget that option!

I've recently started to use dual wielding as well. After getting Bloodscythe and Soulrender I realized that it's a waste running around with a sword and shield, since I often forget to block anyways! So I usually have those two swords and sometimes swap the mace of Molag Bal into the other hand. I tried to use two-handed weapons for a while but I just get so frustrated at how slow they are. So dual-swords are definitely my thing! But I also love archer characters so I swap into a bow as often as possible! I try to level up some magic skills every once in a while and my favourite is definitely conjuration. I always summon a flame athronach if there's a tough fight. Conjuring Arvak the horse is also very useful and cool at times :-)

Never really bothered leveling up Alchemy, is it good?
The first skill i master is Sneak, TWICE!! before i even master one handed.

I love to Dual Wield, awesome way to fight. usually just go with Dragonbone swords, or 1 dragonbone sword and Mehrunes Razor when i sneak attack

Alchemy is super useful, especially when you level it up. I make pretty potent poisons and strong health potions. I love gathering ingredients but I get over encumbered a lot when I forget to drop them off at my alchemy lab in my house. If I'm in a town I will drop all my stuff in a chest in my house and make as many potions I can till I run out of ingredients to level my alchemy.
I've recently started using maces as a secondary dual wield weapon choice when I run into enemies that I have a hard time killing.
one of my favorite things to do it sneak and use my bow to get kill shots. I favor my bow a lot also it hard not too lol.

I prefer Oblivion over Skyrim personally but I'm glad to see some diversity among the preferences of the game. I personally enjoy playing sneak characters who dual wield daggers.

I'm sorry for not posting too much on this I have been busy with work. I have made a heavy armor two handed orc female who has grown on me. I still prefer light armor sneak characters who dual wield but I'm starting to warm up to other characters now.

One of my top 5 favorite games ever without a doubt. I could talk about this game hours, but I try to keep this short.

Well my favorite races are Wood Elves (Bosmer) and Dark Elves (Dunmer) because I have always liked elves.. Except I haven't ever liked High Elves (Altmer's) don't really know why.. I once tried to use it on Morrowind but that race just does not suit for me... And It's really rare that I make Imperial, Nord, Red Guard or Breton, maybe because they all looks so much human and when I play this kind of games I like that my character is something different from human. :p

Think I should say something about the Argonian's and Khajiit's well. The Argonians are one of my favorites too (after dark and wood elves of course), I once made a Argonian Warrior who used Heavy Armor and two handed Warhammers, I think that was pretty funny, because Argonians are well known about alchemy and stealth.. So it was a black sheep from the black march. I don't use much Khajiit's in Skyrim, but I still like them very much in general,, In a matter of fact when I purchased Elder Scroll Online I made a Khajiit because you can make them look so awesome in that game.

About the classes stealth is basic choice for me, because I like to kill my enemies clean and quietly... And also  Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood has very interesting quests and I just love that Nightingale Armor. I like to use 2 daggers mostly, but sometimes 2 katana's looks pretty cool... I hardly ever use maces or axes.. There was one time when I was role-playing Skyrim and I made a Orc Female named Violet who lived in the Orc Stronghold (I use "live another life" mod, so I skipped the Helgen part) anyways it was a first time I made a Orc mercenary who was really skilled with sneaking and assassination, she used two axes (and sometimes mace), because they suits better for orc's in my opinion.. :p And one more thing is that when I make stealth character I also like to train Illusion magic's, I somehow have always liked them most.

When I played Oblivion I almost every time made a warrior, but in time I found it to be really boring so nowadays I hardly do it anymore.. And about Mages I have found them to be little too tricky class to handle.. If your going to master every magic school there is, so if I make a mage I usually just pick like 2-3 magic schools I start to train, usually they are destruction, alteration (shields and stuff) and conjuration (I hardly used conjuration to summon dead or atronachs, mostly because I could use bounded weapons and such, because when I'm mage I don't use real weapons.) and I hardly ever bother to train restoration, because I like collecting ingredients and making potions. And like I said before I use only Illusion spells when I play as a stealth character.

Guess that's all for today.

I have a hard time getting into mage classes. I really don't know why. I favor my bow and love dual wielding war axes. I have done my best to try and play through the game with a two handed heavy armor character but sadly I have lost the battle and made a new sneak character. I just don't really like the feel of the character when its not a stealth character. Oh well I guess. How is everyone else faring in the playing of skyrim?

I just don't really like the feel of the character when its not a stealth character. Oh well I guess. How is everyone else faring in the playing of skyrim?

yeah, people have their own style of gameplay. I personally cannot play without stealth. When i get a new comp I'll try out the female orc with the beauty orc mod
have you heard about Skywind? it's a mod in the making allowing you to play Morrowind with the Skyrim engine. looks good so far. just youtube "Skywind"

I've never played any of the other Elder Scrolls other than this. I always play as Imperial, I dislike the Storm Cloaks and Nord seemed to bland. I don't fancy any of the other classes. I focus more on my Archery and Magic skills. I'm a real wuss and pretty much always abide by the law in this game =p. I think I even killed the Dark Brotherhood rather than get a bunch of gold and Shadowmere. However I did join the Thieves Guild and I've only done one thing that I actually regret while apart of them. Other than that the loot is pretty sweet. I got my hands on the dlc actually. It's really easy to get it for free surprisingly. You just download it as if it were a mod =p. I'm on my way to becoming a dawngaurd. Soon I gotta build my house and fight this so called "true dragonborn".

I've already fought the "True dragonborn" He's really tough so try and level a bit and get your perks up. I've adopted two kids in the game a girl and a boy. I have built a house but the location I have it at I get a lot of bandits and there's always some novice conjurer doing rituals behind my house but oh well more experience.

Are there any actual perks beside a warm feeling for adopting a child?
