I really missed out on the arcade experience. When I was a kid only a few places had arcades and I only got to go to the places that had them a few times. One was a pizza place that had the Simpsons beat em up game, a bowling game, Tekken 3, and a few more. I remember those the best. For the most part all the arcade games I have played have ether been ports to home consoles or here on Vizzed. I really wish I could have went to the arcades more or more places still had them but oh well, back to the topic at hand!

My favorite arcade game is Pac-Man. I love Pac-Man and all of its forms. It is one of my favorite games of all time not just arcade, it is also one of the most ported and cloned games of all time! What could be better than munchin on some pellets and running from ghosts?

What is your favorite? Do you have any stories about it? Please let me know.

I always liked arcade games. There's the great ones like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong, but there's still an arcade game that I prefer over the others. That game is Tron. Tron was a very good movie, and the arcade game based off of it is almost as entertaining. There's a couple challenge mode thingies or whatever. There's one where you're trying to destroy the MCP, one where you're in light tanks (whatever they are called), one where you're running away from weird bat things. But above all... The light cycles.

TheFadedWarrior : I don't think I have ever heard of that game. Do you know when it came out and if it was ported to any home consoles?

I really love the early arcades the most, there is just something about them that is just magic. Space Invaders is one of the greatest games ever made and just think of how simple it is. Its magic.

GenesisJunkie : All the info you need is in the RGR. https://www.vizzed.com/play/tron-(8+9)-mame-online-arcade-62469-game

I know that there is an arcade version on the XBOX 360. It came out in 1982.

My favorite arcade game would also be pac-man. I love it because its a classic, its nostalgic, and wherever there are arcade games, this one was almost the 1st one there.

I live in a town in which to my knowledge there's never been an arcade... And that's why I seldom got to play real arcade-games as a kid. I am a big fan of Stepmania and DDR, though, so my favourite arcade game is probably Dance Dance Revolution (Supernova!!!!) :-) I also like motorcycle racing games.

Man, I remember that Simpson's beat 'em up! At least I assume it's the same one.

I didn't play too many Arcade games either, but I always loved them when I got the chance to play them. I usually played at a landromat, but sometimes I played at Wal-Mart and once in a while at a pizza place or something.

My favorite ones would probably be Zupapa!, Metal Slug (any of them), Captain America and The Avengers, The Percussor, and Knuckle Bash. The Metal Slug games are probably at the top of my list, and maybe Knuckle Bash in second.

Also, since you like the old school Arcade games the best, you should try The Percussor. It's really old and easily one of my favorites.

The first arcade game to start eating my quarters was TMNT. A NES player would know it as TMNT The Arcade Game, but I'm talking about the cabinet.  My cousin and I would collect cans and trade them in for just a few plays each.  Then came Street Fighter II The World Warrior and led us into what I would call the best age for the arcades.  Mortal Kombat I was just so awesome when it came out.  My buddies from the hood and I would hang out at the bowling alley on Saturdays and blow our allowances.  But my favorite of all time was when Mortal Kombat II came out.  It just blew my mind and left me in a sense of wonder.  It really helped that our arcade got an early version of the game with a few glitches that just really helped solidify my wonderment.  One glitch I remember was that you could do the first part of SubZero's fatality where you freeze them and they get icicles all over them, only thing was you could do this like it was a special move instead of part of a fatality.  To this day I still play all of the games mentioned above via emulation.

I haven't played it at a actual arcade as my city doesn't have arcades but i did play quite a bit of 2 megaman fighting games on here.

They were MAME games that you could beat fairly quick

Section Z. Never really played it on an actual arcade system, I own it on an arcade collection disc, on the Xbox. It is so much fun. I have yet to actually beat it to this day...

Okay, let me check my MAME library first. *checks MAME*

My favorite arcade games are DoDonPachi, Robotron 2084, Tekken 3, and Smash TV. I probably have more favorites but I can think of them right now. I have no one absolute favorite.

My favorite Arcade game would have to be Metal Slug 3! So many quarters spend on that one, amazing game. Every time I would go to an arcade, I would instantly to this machine. If they didn't have it, I would get sad and not even play a game.

Great thread you've got here Genesis.

I grew up in the age of the Arcade and honestly, I cannot describe the sensations of a packed arcade. I've posted about this before but my earliest memory of an arcade was when I went to the mall with my parents once. A new arcade game called Dragon's Lair had just come out and it had 2 monitors built into the cabinet. One monitor was for the player to look at while they played and the other was mounted on top for spectator viewing. There were probably 20 to 30 people standing in front of the game watching the top monitor. The graphics were like no other game in the arcade. I was 6 years old and the year - 1983.

It's no secret around here that my favorite arcade game is Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (I have the featured review for it).

Some other great games from my childhood are
Net Wars - I guess I have the featured there as well, lol! (I actually never played this one back in the day but I wish I would have - It ranks right up there with Pac-Man)
Xenophobe - It's really a crying shame that we can't Netplay arcade games.
Paperboy - the cabinet actually had bicycle handlebars for the controls.
One more comes to mind
Golden Axe - just a fun game!

My favorite arcade game is SEGA's Crazy Taxi. I'm talking about the original one, released in 1999. I did not enjoy it much in its cabinet form, but I did enjoy it on my iPad.

Other faves:

DAYTONA USA: Loved it, but never played it. Wished I got the PSN version.
Dead Heat (made by namco): My recent favorite!
After Burner Climax (SEGA): Grew up liking this game!

When ever I had the chance to play arcade games, I would always play puzzle bobble or Tekken. Rarely get to go to arcades to play games since I live more of a poor life but when I do Its usually a lot of fun getting high scores and double perfects.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
