I doubt he's going to ban you if you're gonna ask him about that. It's not like you're breaking the site rules. He's just busy with the site and his real life and he also have tons of PM's to read so it can take weeks (or months?) before he'd be able to read your message and reply. He has an ask anything thread though, maybe he'd be able to answer you faster if you post on that thread.

So for David's relatives, they have a lot of other interests than what David has, so yeah. Plus you can ask David, don't be afraid to ask, like I always say "they're no such thing as a stupid question".
